Question Optimax - best replacements?

What's the best option if you are unable to get Optimax.
There is no way on God's green earth that I will be able to buy any for the foreseeable..........

Ideas?
Suggestions?

Any other Super unleaded?

If not and you need an octane rating higher than 95, buy some Octane booster. I use NF and buy it from Xtreme Scoobies. And I run a Skoda

scooby-tc, I think that not all Shell garages sell Optimax.

Depends what sort of car you've got. Mannin, do you have a UK/European market car or a Japanese import perchance?

I didn't think Total did super?
Your car will run safely on 95ron but super is recommended.

Must agree about BP causing more activity on KL than most other SUL.I avoid BP at all costs, you'd get less activity using Asda SUL .
Back on topic ive heard that Esso SUL is meant to be quite good although ive never tried it

Esso is my preffered brand, Optimax as a second choice. Link is mapped for the former. I use Silkolene ProBoost for hard use

Esso always has been a good petrol, my cars always ran smoother on it. Optimax is best of course for octane rating but if I could not get it I would use Esso SUL.

I use (sorry...) I have used BP SUL and ESSO SUL when stressed and can't find Optimax.

Basically, I'd use branded SUL, though I notice now that they sell 'Ultimate' some BP don't seem to all have 'normal' SUL.

I have a knocklink but have never seen any activity as its sitting in a bag on the kitchen worktop waiting for a clear, sunny, unstressed w/e for me to fit it.

I switched to Sainsburys SUL from Optimax, just to try it and my cars feels just as good as on Optimax and my switch card feels much better also, as its cheaper.

I always use optimax. Firstly because the garagge is close and secondly because my scoob seems to run smoother than when I tried the BP ultima. I also heard the BP stuff hasn't got the RON rating it was claimed to have, is this true..??????

Where on earth did you hear that? BP Ultimate is rated at 97RON, and 97RON is what it is...

Sorry greasemonkey, researched where I heard it and it was a in a car mag where they had stated that it was 100 RON when it wasn't.

The fuel filler flap on our 04 WRX has a label saying 98 RON only, so I have steered clear of Ultimate. So far the car has only had a diet of Optimax, but as supply can be a bit iffy in Wiltshire, we are thinking of using Esso SUL
