Angry Warning to all Impreza driver !!!!

hi all,

wednesday lunch time i was in work when i heard my alarm going off, looked out the window to find 5 masked men in a Skyline R34. trying to wrench up the bonnet, I went out to stop them only to be chased with wrenches and screwdrivers (looked like i was doing a try out for Forest Gump 2:Lost in the bronx)

after about 10 minutes they gave up and got in there car and went.

They had bent my bonnet and wing, smashed up the steering column and barell, wires etc...

I am just so amused at how people can just do it in mid day with loads of people knocking about

I love my car to bits but it really isnt worth havin when this kind of thing happens, hope other people dont have this problem

Hell, damned if I'd have gone outside (although you do daft things under duress). Come on people, if this happened to you what would be the best way to go. I guess phone the police is the first thing but what else.

Would rounding up work mates and throwing stuff at them out the window help or just cause more problems?

Perhaps get a bunch of work mates together to go outside and "discuss" the situation would be better though this could easily get out of hand too (what if they were armed?)

A high powered hose would be good but not many offices have them I guess.

Any constructive comments as to what would be a better approach?

Where was this then? Bearing in mind it's two days between posting this and the incident, what have the police said?

Clearly a bunch of you is the best bet - preferably with a few baseball bats..

Obviously get the coppers down there asap...

Throw paperclips at them from the window?

Douse the f*ckers in petrol - then calmly walk towards them flicking your lighter!!

You might find them running instead of you!!

Sorry to hear mate but what were they trying to do? I guess they weren't bothered about being inconspicuous. Usually only one person tries stealing the car while the others look out for police etc?

Better (if you have one) to use a digicam through the window, after phoning the police, as this will provide some evidence. Registration of Skyline essential. Any CCTV?

It's a good bet the skyline had been stolen on a previous "job". Thieving scum, just be careful, I love my car but it's not worth being crippled or killed for.

Hope your not too shaken up by your ordeal, red wrx.

Cheers all,

It was in Manchester

I know but I didnt notice how many there were till i got out side

The skyline had been stolen 3 days earlier and already used in one robbery

I have a 94 wrx, Think it will be up for sale though, I cant be bthered getting t**ted for it.

I have no idea how they got in the car, I have no door locks, they are welded up, and they have not broke any glass, and there are no holes in the door, also i have a plate welded in the top so you cant get anything down the rubber seals to pop the locks

Must know what they are doing

Manchester is a ****ty place to own a nice car,

Two many people i know have had similar incidents with masked men in the last year or so, Not just scoobs either.

Makes you think twice about owning anything other than a smart car these days.

A super soaker, a can of petrol, some duck tape and a fuelled zippo kept near the back door are inconspicuous items on their own.

Gutted for you mate. It's not nice when you feel threatened enough to think about selling your pride and joy, because of a bunch of thieving wnakers. I hope it was a one-off, and you end up keeping it and enjoying many happy years of motoring.

Incidentally WR1, reading another post that you've replied to, I hope you don't find yourself in a similar position to red wrex when you receive delivery of your brand spanking new pride and joy... you may find yourself wishing you hadn't made about half of the snide comments you made...

Cheers Judge

I know mate, the most gutting thing is not being able to stop them doing what they were.. I had to just watch as they were wrenching up the bonnet

then they tried to wrench my head off.....good job i am quicker 0-60 than the scoob lol

I am now on my third key in 8 months, I cant afford to keep repairing it, Im only 21 and if i had gone through insurance i have to pay the first £450 and i would have lost 4 years no claims

Reckon so m8, those are genuine questions, no snide comments meant

Reason for asking was it reminded me of a long time back when I saw someone break into my own motor. I was in an office block, 4th or 5th floor at the time and no way to get to the car park quickly enough. By the time I got down there the driver's side window was smashed and my stereo gone.

I always thought back at the time should I have done something different, could I have scared them off. Hence, when I saw this post I asked the questions.

Also, reason I mentioned the hose was that our office had fire hoses at either end, high powered and probably enough to knock someone off their feet, or at least disorient them.

I'm in Manchester a lot for work and it scares the $#!t outa me that people have the bottle to do this in broad daylight. It does happen everywhere, but Manchester seems to be the worst by far these days, seems to happen all the time because there's a Merc Sl55 round every corner, so there's bound to be lots of other cars that are nice as well and it look like your Scoob just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time - sucks, sorry to hear about it

As for what I'd do - I'd probably be a little daft like red and go protect my pride and joy (then run like a girl thinking "what the hell was I thinking in the first place") when they come after me.

I think perhaps having thought about it, I'd have rung the police first and then onto the RAC for mine to get it tracked if they were driving away in it, but like I'd think so calmly if it was happening
