Question Buying new LHD?

Just finished 2nd and final interview for a job in France only 2 of us in the running for a perm job over there. The Impreza I own is RHD, so would go. I understand cars are more expensive in France. So considering what I would have to do for a new or secondhand lhd. One consideration is buying a LHD from Gert Jan in Holland. When I got my rhd from him the lhd was lots cheaper. Maybe I would be better to wait and buy a secondhand one over there? What are peoples thoughts?
Thanks
Simon

Cool

Can't help with prices in France but you will find it a hell of a lot easier with a LHD car, also you stand less chance of getting targeted by the police if your in a local registered car.

Only down side is you need to obay all the traffic laws in said country, upside is you get to have foreign plates when you get gatso'd in the UK.

I would agree that having an LHD if you're likely to be in France more than the UK is a must. As well as being a useful cloaking device in the UK, for some reason barriers at places like car parks seem to be more prevalent over here (at least compared to where I used to live). When I had a RHD for a short while, it annoyed the hell out of me, as well as making you look daft having to sometimes get out to push the button or insert a ticket!.

Luxembourg is amongst the cheapest place to buy a new car, and run them which is why the 2nd-hand market is so bad for the seller (and most end up leaving the country). I bought my MY03 WRX last year for the equivalent of £17k all in (inc. air-con, spoiler & sat-nav radio), but that's registered here in Luxembourg. I think they get a bit funny if you try to buy one for export, but that may have changed now.

Got a quote from Gert Jan Van Der Velde today for a LHD WRX Wagon: 14,281.46 GBP. I will have to add VAT to this; brings it to about 16,800 GBP. Can' remember what else I would need to add to that. Looks pretty good though.
