Default knocklink calibration

I have just fitted my knocklink, and are trying to calibrate it.

I have read on post's that people have been tapping their engine block to calibrate their knocklink.

I have tried tapping mine, even on the sensor itself, and all i get is the 1 dim green led ?

I have tried turning the pot both ways and it made no difference (which way should i turn it to increase sensitivity ? )

the connectors on the sensor are ok, as i soldered them on.

does anyone have any ideas ?

Cool

To calibrate, most people turn the adjuster fully clockwise (Max. sensitivity)

I had the same problem when tapping the block - to start with, only one green LED illuminated.....Iwasn't tapping hard enough.

I don't think that the frequency of tapping a spanner is quite the same as generated by knock, therefore you have to 'bang' the spanner quite hard to make all the LED's illuminate

Hope this helps

Turn it right up (clockwise as you look at it I think) and give the block a good hard thump with a big screwdriver. You'll have to go some to get the Big Red to come on tho. I know some people like to tap the sensor itself but I don't believe that to be good practice.

My my99 turbo gives 1, sometimes 2 greens flat out, although I did see an orange briefly the first time I went WOT after an ECU reset.

couldnt really send it back, as i have removed all the LED, and mounted new leds on the steering colulm.... suppose i should have tested it first
