Default More Tek 3 Advice

MY00 Turbo with full decat and green panel filter at the moment. The above with a Tek 3 remap would probably be looking at 275 ish bhp I suppose but the question I am asking is,
Will my car be safe, will it be able for it or is getting the Tek 3 remap making it safer?
Thanks.

Two questions there really.

Will my car be safe?
In theory, if the mapper does his job properly, and you don't do anything daft to compromise his work, then yes, it should be safe.

Will my car be safer?
Depends on how you're looking at it. You're increasing the performance of the car, so logically, no, you're not making it safer. However, if you were currently using a manual boost controller without a knocklink, or you had a JDM model and had been running it on 95RON unleaded without a knocklink, then yes, you would be making it safer...

Another way to assess the safety of the remap is to ask the mapper if any of the cars he's mapped have had engine failure. Alternatively, post on here requesting info specifically from people who have had their cars remapped by said mapper.

Thanks lads...I thought in theory that my car would be safer having the ecu mapped specificaly for the decat and mods rather than running it on the stock ecu which wouldn't handle the decat as well even though I have not had any problems.
I always run on SUL and have both a Knocklink and AFR fitted and both always stay normal. By the way its a Tek3 map in question and mapper will be Bob from BRD who has a great reputation.

Wouldn't have thought Bob's re-map would set your engine to self-destruct... Hope not anyway, as I want in on the next group buy!

Bob mapped mine with a decent safety margin with det cans and a wideband afr and in real world driving conditions, so I don't think you have too much to worry about.

Just to be clear I have not got a re-map yet but will be so all my questions are just a "what if" senario. Bob seems to be excellent at what he does and and does a 100% job from people that have used his service so that is very re-assuring. Roll on my re-map.

Bob did my TEK3 on my 01 WRX. It totally FLIES! Great service and attention to detail. Would not hesitate in hiring his services again.

Best to upgrade the brakes first though...
