Question

Dear All,
Having attended several SIDC track days, I have noticed that several of you run on 17" slicks that look like they might be suitable for a Cossie as well (about the same rolling radius as a 215/40x17 ie. 1920mm ish) - I need to find some extra grip from somewhere!

Could you please advise where these were obtained from, how much, what make, longevity, opinions on grip etc, as I need to obtain some before July 30.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks and best regards

Mike,

contact Wheels Around in Auchterarder. They are the UK Yokohama motorsport agents and attend virtually all UK rallies. They have also attended a few of our Knockhill track events, and swapped wheels & tyres around for participants

It's not just motorsport tyres they can supply, and can give some of the best deals available on Yokohama and other road tyres (including free fitting, and they have a next day mail order service). They can be contacted by phone on 01764 662897, fax 07070 716511.

They have supplied quite a few of our members with 17 inch slicks which have virtually the same rolling radius as a 215/40 x 17 tyre. However, these are an unusual size for slicks, and are quite expensive, and there is limited choice, but they are available in a number of different compounds.

They also recently supplied a set of moulded slicks in the correct size for a 22B, which has transformed it's on track handling

PS Tell them that the SIDC sent you

Mike, I received the following reply from a company called TAS. 01772 454647

I can offer you Dunlop Slick Tyre 210.620-R17. This is suitable for the 7.5 x 17” wheel size. Price is ?160.00 per tyre plus carriage. I think the carriage costs would be about ?15.00 for 4 tyres. I can ship these within 2 -3 days.

Hope this helps

Dan

Mike,
Why not have a look through the Motering News. Should pick up a set fairly easily.

Cheers Greg
