Question Idle speed adjustment ?

Hi peeps,

just a quickie, my Sti 7 seems to idle quite low, about 500 RPM and I would like to up that to 800 RPM as this would appear more normal. Is there anything i can do or is it all done within the ECU ??

Kev.

never tried it on an sti but the idle is adjustable through the select moniter on most models with the option of doing it with air con on or off.

Kev, the idle speed is controlled by the ECU and can't be adjusted without external tools.

However, it's most unusual for the idle speed to be out of whack, especially by as much as 250-300rpm.

If it really is idling at 500, you should take it to a dealer and get it looked at, as it's a sign that something is wrong.

Before you do that though, you should take another look at the revcounter scale, just to be certain you're seeing what you think you're seeing. If the needle is hovering about half way between the "1" mark and the bottom mark on the revcounter, the idle speed is actually 700-750 or so, which is about right.
