As thread title, What safe power level is recommended for standard internals and drive train

 

Personally i think that 01wrx internals will run all day long at 350bhp however the gearbox won't and will give up the ghost at about 300 lb/ft torque if driven aggresively

To back up Scott,350 BHP on the engine but no more than around 300 BHP if you want you gearbox to last.

My mates MY01 with 285 BHP killed his gearbox but the he does drive aggressivley.

My old MY01 had 292 BHP and was a very happy bunny and did in excess of 33k miles without any problems.

My MY01 has 40k on the clock. The last 10k at 320bhp. No Problems
Soon to increase to 350bhp.
We will see what breaks first.

I ask 'cause I'm going for the TD05 so my worries are about the gearbox. I tend to think the 2nd gear will explode just when I turn on the car after the turbo swap...

Am I paranoid? or Do the gearbox will last some stand starts before it break?

7000rpm sidesteps although mine went from changing up from 2nd to 3rd at 7000rpm, it then carried on to strip 3rd

 

Thanks for the info guys but what mods do the big power club do to the gearbox
