Aftermarket Re-Circ DV (MY99/00) - Which do you prefer
I swapped my standard re-circ Dump Valve for a Forge Item last year and was very disappointed with the clang/squeek/rusty gate hinge type noise that it made when opening/closing.
Forge kindly sent me a service kit containing a new plunger and a selection of springs, but none of this stopped the above mentioned noises. Hence I sold it....
Have others experienced this with the Forge Re-Circ.
If you don't use a Forge Re-Circ then what Re-Circ do you use and does it make any noise ?

Scott,
I believe the Forge RE-circulate I have venting to atmosphere on my car was originally intend to be fitted to a 99.. I don't get any noise like you describe?
Perhaps it was a one off fault with that valve?
Can take you out in the car one lunchtime if you want

I don't think it was a one off, as at the time 'when search worked' I found other posts.
The "Quote" - Rusty Gate Hinge - was used in another post I read and it's quite an accurate description.
I tried Red and Blue Springs as well as Ally and Plastic pistons.

looks identical except for the bracket on the bottom and I believe they run the same springs and pistons.. strange.. no such noise on my car.. more of a nice puuffffffttt sound lol.
Perhaps it is related to the fitment to the intercooler?

Probably.... it may be that the 'CLANG' is the sound of DV resonating through the intercooler. A Vent to Atmo will probably still do it (when mounted on the Intercooler) but I suspect the 'PSSSSTTTTT...TISCH' drowns it out.
I just want a strmoger DV as I have suspected mine is 'Mooing' (leaking) at approx 3-3,500rpm since having the car.

Don't know about rusty gate hinge, mine sounds like the 2 swords being swiped against each other in the early Wilkinson Sword ads
I'm running red and blue springs (stretched) together, plus an old piece of Samco hose wrapped around them, and more rubber as a seat for the spring to sit on - still noisy....when it opens
Just a feature I think, the piston is aluminium, the springs and seats are metal. Sssscccchhhhlllliiiiiiiinggggggggg

lol @ Dowser..
Mine sounds more like a set of bus brakes.. lol but then I have it vented to atmosphere as I didn;t want to cut my inlet pipe.

I found the Forge stuff very jerky using a MAF sensor, I ended up going back to the OEM dump valve and am still using it. I don't really have any noticeable lag anyway.
Will probably go back to the Forge with the bigger turbo when the MAF is gone permanently.

Scott... i believe that Bob Rawle mods the forge DVs that he supplys. May be worth dropping him an e-mail to see what the modification entails and why he thinks it needs modding (maybe something to do with john's comments above).

Me too... exactly what dowser decribes above.... LOL Can't find a better description then that!
I'm ok with the sound though but like what John said, its very jerky. Everytime i lift off the throttle slightly, the car jerks....and i'm **** with that.
