Question Oil Feed on VF23 Turbo and Wots the black thing for?!

HI Peeps,

Fitted a STi Injectors and an VF23 onto my 2001 WRX over the weekend, and managed to get a couple of problems.

Firstly, couldn't get the oil fixing to go into the VF23 (top line input). Every time I try, it doesn't seem to want to screw down. I don't want to cross-thread it, but i can only manage a couple of turns before it stops. Without the oil line in the way, the fixing locates no problem. Any thoughts from the experts? Should i get a new bolt?

Secondly, i broke the case of a black plastic component that locates on the ends of the inlet. It seems to house some sort of motor. (there is one on the opposite side, but not on the same end of the inlet. Any idea what this is, and is it expensive?!

Any help appreciated.

Now off to put bandages on the gashes on my knuckles my trials!

Question

Just found out the black thing is a "Tumble Valve Generator". Anyone know what this does and where the pipe coming from it should connect to?

Hi Stuart,

I fitted a VF23 to my car (MY98) and the oil feed goes in with a bit of fiddling. I had to bend the pipe slightly to get it to line up perfectly - it's at a slightly different angle. I presume that yours is the same since you say that the fitting goes in fine on its own. Persevere, but be very careful that you don't kink it. Can't help on the other thingy, I'm afraid, but will it not glue together if it's just a cover? Cheers.

Raymond.
