Default intercooler tilt, worth doing?

fitting an intercooler splitter and i've got a bit of a gap between the rubber 'apron' and the intercooler itself, if i pack up the intercooler to close up the gap will it be more efficent or will it make very little difference?

depending on how big the gap is between the intercooler and the rubber,it should make it more efficient although only slightly.
If it doesn't take too long to pack it up i'd do it...

You can go further than that Hoskib. Tilt it up enough that you've got to cut away a good half of the skirt at the back to get a proper seal.

Tilting the IC improves the airflow through the FMIC, and will result in a subtle, yet measurable reduction in intake temps.

cheers guys,
the gap is about 8mm on one side from what i can see, i'm a bit limited by the amount i can tilt it by as there is a 1" deep rectangular 'funnel' under the opening in the rad splitter (it's a whole replacement of the plate under the bonnet under the scoop) and at worst i've got a 1/2" clearance between that and the intercooler itself and don't want them smacking together when i shut the bonnet, can i raise it rather than tilt it?

i think the way forward is to take off the scoop and i'll be able to see a bit better what's going on. but until i can do that next weekend, will there be any difference to the car if air is escaping thru the gap? (maybe it did with the std plate? never really looked!)

by the way greasemonkey, what does the reduction in temp equate to in performance? (not gonna hold you to it, just wondering )
