Default What gauges do i need?

Want to decat and put a dawes on. Prior to this i'm gonna get the essential knocklink and boost gauge.
On top of this I reckon I may need either or all of the following,

1, EGT
2, AFR
3, Lambdalink.

My research and limited knowledge seems to indicate that these will all give me the same information albeit in differant ways. Am I missing something before i buy that single a pillar pod only to wish i'd bought a double.

Cheers for any help,
Ritchie.

EGT is only really necessary if you're running big boost, or doing track days.

The AFR and Lambdalink are one and the same, or to put it another way, the Lambdalink is a type of AFR gauge. There are plenty of AFR gauges on the market, all down to personal preference as to which to go for.

If you're keeping the power modest, and not doing track days, you'll get away with a double A-pillar pod, for your boost gauge and AFR gauge. Unless you go for the Lambdalink or Dawes AFR, in which case you'll only need a single...

The basic guages before you start with modifications are a Knock Link to detect detonation or pinking and some form of air fuel ratio meter so you can monitor mixture and know if your mods have unduly weakened your AFR. Next you need a boost guage so you can see where you started from, any gains made from the mods you do and generally monitor your boost settings which can be altered. Consider a GBE valve in preference to the Dawes bleed valve.
TIM boost guages with a pod cost £30 and something like Mocal are about the same money but without the pod.
Oil pressure and temperature combined, again from Mocal are about £60.
Look in the Burton Performance or Rally Design catalogues.
As the Judge said an EGT is not necessary, certainly at the start and they are quite a lot of money.
Hope this helps.
