Default Starts up, nearly stalls, then picks up?

Whats happening to my scoob?

I start it up without any throttle and it picks up ok, then it nearly dies as the revs drop way too low, and then it picks up again and all is well. This is happening whether its hot or cold and before I touch the gas at all.

It also judders when lifting off the gas whilst driving, even the smallest amount makes it do it. Is this just the AWD.

97 WRX with MAF and 3 port solenoid. ECU upgraded to a ZeroSports. With ZS up-pipe, downpipe.

Little things, but boy is it bugging the b-jesus out of me!!

If your Idle keeps hunting then ur after a new MAF and maybe an O2 sensor.

The judder could be a sticky boost solenoid? But I'm a n00b to sc00bs so wait for confirmation!

The idle is ok after the initial problem and is as smooth as you could hope for. I have suspected the MAF as when I got the car the induction kit wasn't supported by anything, it was just flopping about.

Its now mounted correctly, but I suspect the damage may have been done.

The car has done this since I bought it last Oct.

The judder I mentioned is as if its backlash (?) on the diffs, but its seems to be 2 distinct judders, one diff after the other.

MAF and the judder is caused by the clutch flywheel.

MAF, get a new one

Judder, common and if not too bad then live with it. A dumping of the clutch with a few revs tends to help now and again

Could be the MAF, but on a MY97, it could equally be the lambda, sticking ISCV, or TPS problem.

MAF's are quite tough on that MY, and very expensive, so make sure before you change it. And don't buy a 2nd hand one!
