getting hot
Hmmmmmm...not as far as I am aware. I have been sitting stationary on the M6, or on the m25 during the bank holiday mad rush and mine has never got too hot. (UK MY97)
On the subject.......Many moons ago I had an xr3i which used to overheat all the time, that's ford for you. :-)

I assume you have done the usual check the Rad for water, check that the fan works. check the thermostat opens etc.
Have you checked the oil ?? is it crap ??
Does it have crap in it ??
Is anything in front of the Rad ?? [I.E. plastic bag]
If all are OK it may be worth flushing the system through to see if that works, if not it may be necessary to get a garage involved.
Cheers

I've had this a couple of times but it was just after I had a cambelt change which required the rad to be removed. Turns out there was an airlock in the coolant system. Is OK now.
The first sign I had that something was wrong was that I had no heating, due to not enough water being pumped through the heater matrix.
