Default Removing a cherished numberplate

Putting my car back to standard to sell it.

I need to remove my cherished numberplate, but when I originally had put on, I forgot to ask what happens to my existing original plate and how to transfer it back.

I'm sure numerous people on here have been through this process many times, and I would appreciate the benefits of your wisdom as it is one area I'm not so hot

You apply to the dvlc to put you plate on retention and they will put your old plate back on. You can do this at your local licenseing centre.

Right, better get it sorted then as I will need to get the new logbook before I can sell the car.

Is there a web site with the licensing offices on?

i did it with mine... get it done asap.. as it will take about 4 week sto get the V5 back... THEN you can sell the car.
Got my V5 after about three weeks.. depends how busy they are.
Go to your local DVLA office so you know its being sorted asap.. plus you will be able to 'change' the old plate back on the car.. maybe that day.. BUT you need the V5 to sell the car!!!

is that Carbon spolier still on offer by any chance? ? ? ?

My V5 also took 4 weeks to be returned. I think the forms states between 4-8 weeks so 2 weeks may be optimistic if you are banking on it.
The fee for taking off your plate will also include the £80 assignment fee for putting it back on a different car.
