Default Fully Synthetic oil £14 deal at Halfords...

Looks like a bargain to me as it is normally £29.

Cant remember what the current wisdom is re oils for the Scoob, but I do remember paying about £40 for some fully synth Motul last time. Anyone remember the SAE recomendation?

5L OF 5 : 40 (I guess its that since it seems like the packaging for the stuff I use in the other car). Popping over there now to see for certain - annoyingly not on Halfordfs website.

Probably a bit too thin for a Scoob, better with 10W50 or RS 10W60 etc.

Well I got 3 cartons of it; be mad not too at half price, and probably a quarter of the cost of the 'brands'. Trawling to see if its ok to use in the Scoob now...

Use Castrol RS 10/60 or Motul 15/50 in your STi Diesel.

It is probably 0W40 which is what I got from Halfords. It just means that it will work at -32degC, which is why it is cheap cos we don't really need it in the UK. However, at 0-10degC it will have a very similar consistancy as all other brands.
There is a lot of missunderstanding about oils on here - send a mail to Castrol & they will send you an info pack.

it is Halford's own brand 5w40 fully synthetic... made by Comma... not suitable for Scoobies Cossies Pulsars etc etc IMHO

(I work there, i've had Castrol training, and apparently i'm a "Specialist"!)

How does that E-Bay thing work again? Should be able to sell if for £20 once the promo's over

OK, I'll just save it for my 4.6 V8 shopping trolley then - uses 6.5 litres in one go! It will be covered for a couple of years now and that doesnt run quite so hot!
