Cool Has anyone got their front number in a different position than standard?

I am thinking of possibly moving my front number plate, to somewhere else on the front of the car.

Has anyone done this? If so, do you have any images that show what it looks like? Because I am 50/50 whether to do it or not.

Plus, how did you secure it to the car?

Stick-on reg plate (reflective, legal font, never been pulled) mounted on Prodrive / STi 4 lip spoiler.

Tony,

Where did you get the mesh grill in the bumper with prodrive on it? It looks wicked.

Sorry for hijacking the thread btw!

That looks really good, I like that !!........I had it there before and I got pulled over for not have my number plate on a vertical.

An idea I had was having it like the Evo's......does anyone know if this is possible? And again: have you got an images? and how does is it fitted to the car?

Thanks for the positive feedback guys !

Made it myself - very easy and very cheap.

Piece of mesh cut to the right size, painted with 2 coats of Hammerite smooth. Pick a logo, any logo, off the net, scale to the size you want. Print off, and make a template, then use this to apply the logo with a brush or spraycan of more Hammerite smooth. Fix to the existing slats using cable ties. Please note, you'll need to remove the number plate mounting bracket from the rad aperture - this is fixed on with Torx security fasteners, so you'll need a special tool for this, although its not expensive.

Done one for my intercooler too, check it out......

Enjoy !

I guess that the horsepower increase given by the STI logo should offset the loss due to the drop in intercooler efficiency.

I have had a full size standard font reflective reg plate "sticker" stuck to the front of my bonnet for a few years now, and as yet I have not had a problem with it, even through several MOT tests. It is clearly visible and legible from the required distances, is of the correct size and font. If anything, it would be more legible to SPECS cameras than a standard plate.

The (bad quality) photo doesn't give an accurate view - I selected some mesh that has thin wire and big holes (for want of a better expression) so as to restrict airflow as little as possible. Judging by the state of the fins, it needed doing. The crappy low-resolution pic makes it look almost solid !!!

The rad mesh came from MRO styling and was pre-cut although it did need some trimming. The intercooler mesh came from B&Q I think.

Same as Moray/Julian.
Stick on made in proper font on reflective background.

Never had a problem with MOT or Police.
