Today I think I joined the slippery slope towards that well know addiction of buying new bits for the scoob!
Always said i wouldnt get carried away but may have to change that after today.
Had the scoob a few weeks and this afternoon on went a blitz nur spec exhaust, then popped to another shop on way home and ordered 2 new front seats, got home wrote a huge list of stuff i want to get! what has happened to me, never had this urge to improve a car before! feels good though

I cured myself by selling my Scoob

Unfortunately after 3 days I had a re-lapse bought another Scoob and it's all started again

 

Relapse. So sad. You have the sympathies of ScoobyNet.

 

I suppose i best up the overdraft and the credit card limit before the syptoms take hold of me and i have no way of controling the 'mod' urge!
Does feel good though, been driving around today with a bigger grin than usual best illness ive ever had!!

 

I havent had a fix for 2 weeks now



The car is booked into scoobyclinic in 9 days, 16 hours and 45 minutes for a gauges fix.

I dont know if i can wait that long

glad im not the only one!

 

I remember driving around with my mate 2 weeks after I picked up my scoob. He was saying how a good aftermarket exhaust would release quite a few ponies and I was categorically telling him that the scoob was so good it didn't need any mods. He suggested I take a look at scoobynet. 3 weeks later he was helping me fit a de-cat magnex exhaust . The 'to do' list has been growing ever since. I'm hooked. Can only imagine the mods possible if the misses was a little more understanding of my habit.

Here's a tip - don't just leap in and make loads of engine-type modifications. That's not the area most lacking in your average Impreza. I've made a lot of mods to my car, including the engine-type ones (http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/showthread.php?t=301758). However, in terms of performance for money spent - you're best off NOT to do as I (and some others) have done. You can get excellent value for money from just modding up to the point of sorting the suspension and brakes properly.

 

Don't worry Fatman, I have rear droplinks & rollbar, 4 pots, bumpsteer+ geometry on the list next.

My main urge after the exhaust and seat one yesterday was to get new alloys and better brakes, surely the insurance company cant be to bothered by these things??? after ive had the car a while i might dabble in engine mods.

 

Yes, perversely enough those sorts of items still matter to insurance firms. Depite the fact that brakes/suspension can make the car safer to drive, mods to those areas often increase premiums. Premiums are calculated on (amoungst othe things) the value of the kit, not just the risk that the driver represents. A good brake kit would cost more than some cars on the road!

 

I just upgraded from 16's to 17's. Big improvement in handling and looks.
Check out the MY03 rims, look good on a classic and can be had up for a bargain.

I was only gonna put a new clutch in mine.
Next thing I know I'm driving away with that, lightened flywheel and pulleys and full decat- doh!
Then came the wheels so I can have bigger brakes which are next.......
Somehow my mate has started to persuade me to put a link ecu in it after telling me about the fuelling below 3krpm which gives a kangaroo type effect. I was quite happy not knowing that but once you do, you cant help but notice

Before I had even bought my first scoob was looking around for exhausts and other bits to add on, now I've had it for a couple of weeks I am booked in for the exhaust with back box to be fitted an have a list as long as I want to own a scooby for more parts that I want...... who came up with this idea of modifying... we need compensating....
