Prodrive performance pack on a new WRX
Has anyone fitted a Prodrive Perf pack to a new style WRX? Does it make that much of a difference- Is it really worth it?
Where does it make the difference? Mid range, handling etc?
Sorry about all the questions but I'm still a scoob newbie :-(

Well, sound wise its waaaay better...single pipe gives it a nicer sound.
Performance wise...Jury still out on that. I've had mine fitted for over 2 weeks now and I can't say that mid range power feels any better than before.
I'm tempted to pop it down to PE for a rolling reading.

Well for the price of PPP you would better hope you would get a substantial performance improvement! On MY00 PPP absolutely transforms the power delivery - each gear literally feels like the one lower and it picks up smoother and at a good few hundred lower rpm. From what folk say, PPP on the MY01 should be just as good.

pmather, I picked up a brochure from local Scoob dealer on the UK300.
On the Performance Pack it says "power and torque are increased in the 2,800 to 5,500 rpm mid-range with a 25% increase in acceleration... it increases power to 230 PS using 95RON unleaded or to 245 PS using 97RON." The standard car gives about 218 PS max on 95RON, IIRC.
From which I conclude: the Performance Pack makes a big difference; and that using SUL fuel gives you half as much extra power on top of that.
Richard.

Well I cant say that I've felt the difference - I'll ask my gf to drive it and see if she has an opion..I've been filling her up with Shell Optimax since getting the PPP fitted as well (the car that is..not my gf!)

Check with your insurance co - on mine about 10% increase in premium - nifty in that the PEAK power is only increased by around 10%, whereas the midrange is 20-25% - where you need it.

I agree with TigerWRX, it does'nt feel much different to me so i'm taking mine to Powerstaion on thursday for a power run to check figures. Maybe i'm just getting used to it, tell you after thursday.

Agree with Haynesaj. I had 5,000 miles before having the PPP fitted a week ago. It totally transforms the car, mainly much more low down grunt, but a bit more at the top also. I love it now and the sound is excellent.

Is it worth it? Not sure, but just budget for it onto top of the asking price, as a WRX MY01 with a PPP is still the bargain of the century on price performance handling etc., i.e. the main reason I bought one in the first place.

The PPP has totally transformed my MY01. Every gear now has the power of the gear below...and then some. I know longer need to change down to 4th to accelerate hard on the motorway. I can keep the car in higher gears for longer and it just pulls and pulls.
Acceleration and responsiveness has been drastically improved. I didn't think I would notice a big difference as I already had the Prodrive backbox fitted, but there was a big big improvement.
I for one throughly recommend it and think it was well worth the money.
PS. My car also had 11k on the clock...car does need to be run-in first. This seems to be the biggest blocker on performance.

Well..my rolling road figures for MY01 with PPP are:
251bhp@6290rpm and 235lbs/ft torque 1.1 bar boost
The claimed figures for the PPP are, "max power up to 245bhp at 5600rpm and max torque to 261lbs/ft".
I've got 11500 on the clock.
