Is it worth upgrading the standard clutch to something like a Helix 6 paddle??

 

Yes if it needs changing

 

Depends what car and what power you've got.

Paddle clutches are quite sever for road use - my AP organic is coping admirably with what I throw at it.

Mind you.. I think his is earning its keep a little more than most

Unless you have over 320lb/ft of torque, I would go for the Helix organic.

That last bit is very important. It MUST be done to remove any tolerance. You can also kiss goodbye to the infamous clutch judder at the same time.

Im looking to replace the flywheel at the same time is a standard subaru item anygood? or is it worth going for a lightened/uprated one (oh the car is an rb5 wr)??

Standard remove and refit on the box is 5 hours.. at £37.50 per hour plus Vat.

Lightened flywheels. Unless u take a lot off.. it won't make a huge difference... and of course at the expense of smoothness and driveability. Pays yer money and takes your choice

Trouser-quick question,I have a chocolate clutch & slight crunch on 4th gear when accelerating hard but also when cars feels like it, how much approximately to change the synchro ring, if the box has to be dropped to change the clutch.

Is it worth doing them all at the same time ?
ie is the scooby box easy to work on ?

If I have to skim the flywheel why not lighten it to say 8kgs at the same time ?
