Does the supplier also stock/fit the Barrier Deadlock/Dipol or similar, as I would be interested in both?

1. On the scoob where would the (keypad I presume) be fitted to unarm it?

2. Where is this guy based in Leeds?

3. Have you any idea of how long it takes to fit?

It takes about 3 hours to fit AFAIK , and the keypad could go anywhere you wanted, within reason. I'll probably get mine fitted in the little change box above the drivers right knee, but I dont suppose it matters.

the guy is very flexible as to which area he fits ,If your not too far he'll even come to you, but for the amount he's charging he would prefer to do 2 at the same location

Hi mate, the guy concerned only works mon-fri but said he's willing to do one on a saturday morning for someone who is coming from out of town if neccessary

Looked at the info on the link and still not sure how it works. Does it arm each time the key is inserted and is unarmed by the keypad - which you do each time you wish to drive it? Therefore, if you're car jacked do you need to remove the key before they try and drive off, otherwise it won't shut down the car until after they restart the engine? Is that right?

Anyone got one fitted to a MY03? Where's your keypad, did it work / conflict with the standard alarm and imobiliser?

 

Is this guy a currently registered Clifford installer and if so, what is his company name?

If there was a problem with the Blackjax I'd rather be dealing with a known company, rather than tracking down some guy with a mobile number!

Yes DJ he is a registered installer and has his own company but until fitting dates are confirmed he'd prefer to stay annonymous as he has just sold the old company that he had ,and dosnt want any hard feelings between himself and the new owners of his old company as they are regularly on this board.

nothing underhanded , its all legit he just dosnt want the agro he'll get from undercutting .

I told them what the blackjax system was and what it did ,and asked them if it in anyway could or will invalidate my insurance policy.

There response was NO. they said that quite a few people were having these fitted as a further upgrade to vehicle security and it will not effect my insurance cover in anyway

I'm insured with Liverpool Victoria .

I think the UK version of the Blackjax is modified so that it does not stop the car while in motion

 

A few people on this other bb are pretty adamant that it does invalidate insurance. I guess the only answer really is for everyone to check with there Ins Co first, which I shall be doing.

Hi Phil,

Just to add my 2p, hopefully as a bit of added reassurance....

I've had BlackJax on my MY02 WRX wagon for 2 years now, and the system is excellent. In fact, it was fitted locally (together with the Concept 600) by the guy that I think you're referring to in this group buy. If so, his standards of workmanship cannot be faulted. The system has also been totally reliable.

If anyone wants any more info on how it works, or on the quality of the installation, please feel free to mail me offline.

I think a lot of folks may be thinking along the same lines as me , I would like one but have concerns about its affect on the Cat 1 status and insurance , hopefully someone can clear this up

MY03 STI JDM

 

Do you need to have a Clifford alarm system to work with Blackjax as I had a Clifford concept 600 alarm fitted to my previous car with Blackjax. It was nothing more than a pain in the rear end the car always false actviated the alarm and immobiliser and Sometimes didnt recognise the key fob. After the dealer couldnt find the fault and advised me to go direct to Clifford. Clifford themselves were not interested in this faulty product commenting that the car must be nervous.

BlackJax on its own would be fantastic but if it has to be connected with a Clifford alarm then due to the very poor customer service and backup from the company I would rather risk being carjacked than being woken every two minutes and annoying the neighbours again with faulty products.

Only managed to cure the problem by getting the main dealer to rip the Concept 600 out and I paid for a decent cat 1 alarm by another company.

 

It works as a standalone unit.. you dont have to have a Clifford alarm to have blackjax installed.
