Just been to the subaru dealership and looked at a MY99 Impreza turbo for £9499.
its got:
58,000 miles.
Full subaru service history.
10 dics CD changer.
Air con.
Subaru cat1 alarm
Tracker (think it a monitor)
coming with one year subaru warranty.
all round E/W.

Gonna put down a deposit first thing tomorrow morning, if anybody has any reason its not a good buy please let me know.
Only problem i have is the 58,000 miles.

Have been looking at Imprezas at this sort of cost - was going to go down the route of a Subaru Dealer etc - but I could pick up a MY 94-96 for a few K cheaper than this

Have you considered setting a 7K limit - and seeing what you could get from Autotrader? Lots of Import WRXs around for that sort of dosh ....

Or are there good reasons not to get an import ?

Hi Ray,

In late December(just gone), I have just paid £9995 got, MY99, 28,500 miles, FSSH, 1 owner, Aircon, colour coded, 6 cd, 12 month T&T, 2 yrs warranty, new discs and pads and top book on my trade in. THis was from a citroen dealer!!
£9495, 58K, reckon thats its money but you will be paying a little extra because you're getting it from a Subaru dealer...

...I went to my local dealer this weekend with a mate looking for a MY99/00. They told us they they are crying out for them cos theres a really high demand at the mo and could sell em all day long. If thats the case, reckon you could be paying a bit of a premium because of that (IMHO)

At the end of the day, a car is worth what someone is willing to pay. If you like the car and the deal is near enough for you to swallow, go for it!

Good luck and happy hunting

J

ray, bought my car under similar circumstances (saw it, bought it there and then )

no regrets about doing it, except in hindsight if i had taken a step back from the car and decided to look around other local dealers i may have found a better deal. (you may find the same spec car but with lower miles for the same money for example)

personally now i'd look at buying private, getting an inspection done (about £200-£300 i think) for peace of mind, coz they are thorough, and maybe offseting the extra money you would pay to the dealer to get maybe a MY00 or low mileage MY99.

bottom line mate, have a bloody good look around, as someone said, it's a buyers market so try to grab a bargain! happy hunting

Ray, if you really are that unsure about the mileage, leave it and wait till you see one with the sort of mileage you would prefer. It might take a bit longer to find but in the long run....
There is always something else round the corner.

Just my opinion tho

if you've got doubts now mate, you're gonna kick yourself when you see a 'better' car in a few weeks/months time, because it's out there.

sounds like the dealers picking up on the vibes you really want the car and is pushing the sale a bit informing you it's going in the trader. hold on mate, if the car goes, get another and if it doesn't go walk in there and make an offer. it's coming to the end of the month and they've got targets to hit.

Right. After a good night sleep and a step back from the situation I have desided not to rush in and buy this car.
My family is advicing me not to buy cuz im mad spending almost 10k on a car

Im not 100% sure about the car, so it cant be my dream car.. Im thinking with my head now not my heart.
If anybody has a MY99-MY00 to sell please let me know.

Ray.

well unless the dealer is willing to knock the price down to £8500

you could end up weighing up the pros and cons all day long. if you like it then get it. at the end of the day u could spend another couple of months trying to find something that u like. end up going round in circles and have nothing.

Sorry to hijack your thread ray but I'm in a similar position to you with the scooby buying. I'm about to put a deposit down on the following:

MY00 (V) DBM Impreza Turbo 2000 UK Spec 4dr Saloon
PPP (reported 245bhp/350nm)
50k miles (45k service + cambelt change done)
FSSH
Under Subaru warranty
Tracker Monitor
Air con
10 CD changer

>> £11000 <<

Sound about right?

Bear in mind the car will probably only trade at £8000 ish when you've driven out of the showroom.....assuming it's a T or £8500 on a V.....
Think there could be some better deals to be had if you wait a bit.....

The car the thread was started about was too expensive for the miles but tracker monitors are not very good unless you just want something cheap and cheerful to keep the insurance quiet.

Ah OK

Any comments on my potential purchase? My car comes with a Tracker Monitor too so I guess your comment still applies Luan. Could you explain why its worse than the other trackers?
