Is my engine up to fitting a 2.5 block and 400lbs/ft?

My car is a four year old UK00. It's been pushing 250bhp since run in and for the last year or so 300bhp and 300lbs/ft with hybrid turbo, TMIC and ECUtek3.
It has had a very easy life and plenty of TLC (eg 3,500 oil change and never pushed when cold), apart from the odd spirited thrashing and a handful of track days.
The thing is, I'm tempted to bolt on a US 2.5 block, turbo, FMIC etc etc but the car has now done 80,000 miles. If I do, is this the time to strip the whole thing and replace worn bearings etc or, since the car appears to run as sweetly as the day I got it, dare I assume everything is okay in here?
Any advice appreciatd.
Thanks,
Richard.

If you're fitting a new bottom end, then that's most of the engine wear dealt with
Just budget on new valves/guides/springs for the heads, plus water and oil pumps (which you'd fit new anyhow...hopefully
).
But the jump much over 300 hp will mean your gearbox is living on borrowed time.....

Thanks guys.
Yes, gearbox will be a problem, I know. Was looking at the Lateral Performance cogs but there is a flaw in there at the moment, it seems. I'm sure Mark is trying to fix it as that is preferable to a heavy 6-speeder with a lot of odd ratios.
Any other ideas welcome.
Cheers,
Richard.
