Simon,

Seems a bit odd, doesn't it?

not seen this before, but its common practice in motorsport to use Nitrogen to fill tyres, as teh presure change is minimised as the tyre heats up. Compressed air is full of water and presure changes quite a lot as you use the tyres.

Or just use the same airline that a bodyshop uses...it has a dryer unit to get rid of the water

I got this without asking last time I bought 4 new Toyo T1-S. I can say I noticed absolutely no difference whatsoever during normal road use, although they gave me bright green dust caps on the valves - yuck.

My tyres probably don't get that close to F1 race temperatures though

Although you did not notice any driving improvement did your tyres last any longer as they claim? (25% reduction in tread wear)

Just had 4 new toyo proxes T1-s fitted b4 xmas, with nitrogen as standard at my local tyre fitting emporium.
I actually asked him about nitro, and asked if he did it, his reply was "we already have sir, theres your keys"
nice one.
can't say I notice any difference though over the air that was in before though.

that wear rate change is based on Mr Average never checking their tyre presures. Being good Subaru owners you do this weekly anyway.

First set of Toyos so no frame of reference for the wear rate, although they are lasting reasonably well and wearing more evenly than my Re010's did.

Wink

Right then you got to excuse this next question of mine...
I feel a bit of a dumb *** asking this but is Nitrogen highly flammable..... or what ?

Just considering the fact of a possible explosion ?!!

Don't all shout at me at once please LOL

so, you driving down a country lane, you stuff it big time for whatever reason, CRASH, kerb or somehow tear your tyre off its rim, AND have a form of ignition present to light the very very quickly escaping nitrogen............

..................BOOOOOOOOM...........................

yep, see you point, I'm off to let the stuff out now!

Nitrogen is an inert gas, it doesnt go boom when it see's a spark. Thats why it is used to fill storage tanks for transfer of fluids in the Petrochem industry.
