I have read bit and bobs of the last thread, but it's got rather large and unruley, and in places off topic.

So I thought I would take the liberty of starting a new one.

Is there any more new - news? Photos, specs etc..

Do you mean this?

The STi WR1 apparently. Unveiled today at Autosport International, not there unfortunately.

Chicken wire at the bottom, just looks so sporty! Dunno about you lot, but I really like the latest body shape, details, lamps etc, that looks well meaty to me, I'd have one!

So the Solberg project is a well guarded secret still then?

Sorry if i am being an ignorant spaz, I am not a scooby ownwer, just a fan (along with a few other marques )

If that is the Solberg Special why doesnt it say so on the number plate at front. Like the P1 did when that was launched.

Just an observation thats all.

Just a thought are those fog lamps under the front bumper or the new Prodrive front driving lamps?

Cool

Guys,

The Solberg Special Edition was the name given to the WR1 by the scoobynet community pending confirmation of the correct name...i.e. whilst none of us knew what it was going to be called we called it the Solberg

The pics shown above are of the new WR1...

The lights are Prodrive (or PIAA...no sure) driving lamps...

Subaru uk website has a flash across the middle saying 'Limited edtion Impreza WR1 released on the 8th of Jan at the Autosport show' but no more details than that. Note on the number plate it says 2.0L, thats disappointing would of hoped for 2.5L as the type 25.

Question

Rum
So I don't have to trawl through the previous thread, can you briefly tell me why not 2.5L.
Is it ice blue only?

Simon,

Yes, I believe Ice Blue only...personally I like it in the photos...hopefully tomorrow I'll like it in the flesh

No 2.5 for a number of reasons...including the fact that none of Europe have the 2.5...just the States, Insurance implications...emissions...etc etc

I guess the above doesn't really help....but its a start

Cool

As far as the insurance side of things is concerned our rates were released yesterday...

The WR1 is approx 8-10% cheaper than insuring an STI Type UK (PPP) via ourselves....in other words for those clients with STI with us....to change to the WR1 will probably get a refund!!!!

The problem we have is that owners (and additional drivers) have to be over 28 and the vehicle has to be garaged (this can be discussed depending on the postcode area...i.e. how good/bad it is!!)...

For those attending the show over the next 3 days I will be on the stand and will have quote forms/lap-top with me...if anyones interested!!

i think id travel the 200 miles to the show, it would be faster than getting a quote over the phone!

Hi Tom,

Not really related to this thread, but have you guys every managed to sort out Subaru cover in Northern Ireland as yet?

I talked to you a long time ago about it, and you thought that something may be in the pipeline.

Let me know when you can.

All the best

Shaun

Jason4656,

I know...point taken...tho I think you'd find the telephone quick and easy for the WR1 ...I accept that we have problems with the phones at present....but we are busy working on resolving this with a new and exciting (well exciting for us insurance bods) online quote system for standard vehicles (Justy, Forester, Legacy, GX....and for the more insurance friendly owners...i.e the over 40's...unmodified etc...)....once sorted then the phones can be put to serious use dealing with all manner of other enquiries

Shaun,

Alas at the moment we are still struggling....however as with above we are still working on NI....and rest assured once sorted all owners will be mailed

Joking apart....if people are about at the show...please come and say hello and introduce yourselves...its nice to put faces to scooby profiles

All the best

Tom

a bit late now with all Rum's replies, but...

taken from here

Subaru has chosen the World’s best motorsport show, Autosport International at the NEC, Birmingham, 10 & 11 January, to unveil a special edition Subaru Impreza WRX STi for the first time ever. The WR1 – as it will be called – celebrates Petter Solberg winning the Driver’s title in the 2003 World Rally Championship. Petter will be at the Show on Sunday to officially unveil the car, meet with fans and sign autographs

On sale in the Spring and limited to 500 units, the WR1 will be instantly recognisable thanks to its new Ice Blue Metallic paint plus driving lamps and stainless steel mesh grille. The new supercar will feature a power upgrade to around 320 PS plus a host of technical and visual upgrades, including a driver’s control centre-differential (DCCD) via a switch mounted next to the handbrake.

Also new for the ‘WR1’ are special, Prodrive-developed up rated springs and bump-stops with a 25mm low ride-height. Handling features include 18” diameter P-FF7 (Prodrive Flow Forming seven-spoke) alloy wheel with Pirelli Pzero tyres.
