Guys,

Had my wonderful scoobymania system fitted today but due to a mixup they didn't refit the heatshield that covers the turbo as you look into the enginebay from above.


Can it be refitted with the scoobymania D/P , if so does it need trimming,
What are the problems associated with not refitting it?

A quick response would let me ring up the fitters and get it sorted.

I would say that it can. and should be fitted, I changed my d/p yesterday and trimmed the heatsheild to suit. if you look around there are a lot of things near the turbo that would be better off not getting toooooo hot, like say the clutch fluid and brake servo.
Oh by the way, all the brackets that hold the heatsheild should still be serviceable even without the standard d/p.

I too agree with Ron and have got the tin-snips out to modify the std. heatshields. They must be there for a reason. I do not believe that Subaru would fit them without a good reason.There are some potentially very flammable fluids close to that very hot (at times )tubro. Manufacturer's do not add additional cost to vehicle's for the hell of it. I believe the heat shields are there for a reason. Other people may find it's OK to run without them isn't enough for me. Maybe I'm being over cautious but I worked a LOT of hours to afford my dream car and now that I have it I don't want to see it go up in smoke.

This is all INMHO.

I have seen lots of tuned Scoobs that don't run with the heatshield for whatever reason.
I'm not currently running with one either, but that's more through laziness than anything else.

The Scooby Mania down pipe, (as are most others) is not designed to have heat shiekds fitted to it.

There is far less heat retention due to the removal of the Cat. You can if you wish alter your own heat shields if the desire takes you as long as it does not materially affect the downpipe in a way that may bring about any warranty issues?

You could also lag the pipe if you wish or even have HPC type heat treatments applied to it (at extra cost)?

cheers for the replys, as it turns out the reason the Heatshield wasn't refitted was 'cause due to rusting of the bolts they needed to cut it off before removing the bolts.

So Even if I wanted to refit it I'm kinda stuck.
