A couple of weeks ago my 99MY Scoob developed a whine from the clutch/gearbox when starting from cold. It is only apparent when in neutral for about a minute and disappears when I depress the clutch pedal. I would estimate that it happens with ~50% of cold starts. It doesn't sound serious, but I am curious as to the cause. Could it be related to the clutch judder when cold?

Clutch judder is only apparant when engaging the clucth in gear. If the sound disappears when you depress the clutch it could be the thrust bearing on the way, but then again the sound usually does'nt go away when the car warms up if it is that bearing.

Hope this gives you some idea.
