Please give some thought to a round tailpipe option for the WR Sport backbox. I have seen this question raised a few times on here now and it is often a topic at meets aswell. I am sure it will be worth your while.

Many thanks

Otis.

Sorry, not able to look at the bbs everyday.

The round tailpipe has been used exclusively on cars fitted with the performance package. The idea is that you can easily identify the car has having the package fitted as it has a round tailpipe with the Prodrive logo. This helps protect your investment when it comes to resale time as it's the only obvious way to confirm that the performance package is fitted.

I am well aware that the market would like a large round tailpipe, that's why I chose that design SIX years ago. Some companies have even been founded on the back of that tailpipe designs appeal

After coming under pressure from various areas we recently developed a rear silencer with an oval pipe as you know. This has slightly different internals to suit an otherwise std car but still retain reasonable noise levels. This silencer is also available for the WRX and suits the bumper cutout for that model.

We are however still looking at alternative designs for the Performance Package.

What are everyone's preferences for tailpipe design for this car?

Mike

One each side, or better still under the passenger's door!

Funnily enough, I prefer twin pipes to a large drainpipe, but I realise I'm in a minority on here!

Mike,

I had a Renault 19 16V with twin 3 1/2 pipes . I would prefer twin pipes personally. I am interested in this as I get my MY01 soon and want a PPP :-)

Mike

Can you produce a shape which will cover up its headlights?

Only joking,

One each side or failing that, one that looks like you've ran over a dustbin.

I prefer the twin pipes as well. Would look good (but expensive) to have twin each side. Failing that single each side..

Does it take some complex pipework to fit double pipes (ie one each side)??

We did it. The car belongs to one of my mechanics.

It sounds like a normal Scoobysport backbox, with "spatial stereo" enabled

I would prefer 3" single one side as per the current PPP option if it was me. Twin would NOT be unacceptable though, in fact the more I think about it....etc...etc.

One other small point then is would you say fitting the current PPP box (obtained say off a P1 as a number of owners have been selling them on here recently) to an unmodified car UK MY00 would be a bad idea or have no effect?

Thanks in advance.

Otis.

P.S. Thanks for asking for our views on the new PPP.

Come on chaps anyone else have a serious view, it's not often we get the chance.

I think it looks good.
Do both pipes work or is the drivers side a fake ??

Reminds me of how a lot of Yank V8's have their pipes.

Anyone got a HKS Hiper back box going free/cheep ????

I would actually like as large oval, like the AC schnitzer design. If not that then round is fine single or twin.

Thanks Mike

I would definitely like to buy the round PPP BB if it was available - go on Mike, you know you want to.

Pete,

I see you've got a Cavalier too, no doubt Koni equipped, for when you want to go *really* quickly a to b. See, Jason was right all along!

Pete:
shhhhh, don't tell anyone but I've retouched the photo Me being a silly boy messing about with image manipulation software thought I'd put one over barge

On a serious point though, the left hand one of the pair is real. And as for 'how do you get over speed bumps?' Very slowly is the answer! I've knocked it a few times but the backbox has a few scrapes on it but seems very robust, the center pipe does have a big ding in it though, but that may have been there since I got the car.

Think I get enough looks for having just one huge backbox, dread to think what it would look , or sound like, if I had two. Though if someone wants chuck another at me and fit it for free, then I might oblige them
