well what can i say, what a weapon it is. Power is unbeleivable, when i picked it up, i had a few little sprints against my friend in my old my01 wrx, and all i can say is it was chicken feed to the sti8, this may be a for gone conclusion however just the comparison was good.

The torque on the sti8 is unreal, talk about being pinned back in the seat, even in 5 th gear at like 30-40mph when accelerating its like being in 3rd pulls really well, its also nothing like the wrx on low revs, it picks up alot easier and really pulls right up the rev range, but you can change up at about 5000rpm and still stays well on song.

On a downside its worse on petrol, and you are changing up and down the gears alot with the 6spd box, however you can trot round town in 5th no problems, it seems even better than the wrx for local driving for some reason, due to the gearing i think.

It does seem very short ratio gearing, good in one way though, it never stops pulling.

Its like getting a new toy at xmas, my first scooby was good but this is by far the best experience got that grin back now

just wanted to share it for anyone whos thinking about getting one, i dont know how it compares to the uk as i have only driven a none ppp sti 7, but it felt much more torque than that

Which model is it ? And the JDM Sti8 is the STi9 ... just to be elitist as they are still quite rare in the UK.

to be honest bob, i dont know, is it possible to tell from teh chassis number? I dont know how often you read, but there has been a recent long thread about the name of these cars, ie sti 8 or 9, but i think the end conclusion was its still an 8. I can find the link if you are interested in reading it, btw, do you have any suggestions for remapping, its totally standard as far as i know??

I tend to keep up as they say, have a look at my thread here ... http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=283364 , sorry not clicky. All my own work.

If its JDM its definately a STi9. Mail me the vin off line (for your security) and I'll look it up and let you know, it will either be a GL or a C spec I would have thought but if a C spec then I would have thought you would have been told that.

The Sti8 has same body but last years engine, transmission and gearbox just for the UK market.

cheers (how do you get the clicky bit right ?)

Thumbs up

I have a STi9 GL model, now done 5k in it.

I have modified d/pipe (i.e. still with cat in) Milltek centre and backbox with a ECUTEK re-map and it did 321bhp and 312ft lbs torque at Well Lane back in October.

How is yours progressing bob with the mapping?

Oh clicky for yer (you need 're website and '[/url]' after.
