Cool

Well after four very very happy years driving a P1 what do you go for next...

STi8 with PPP - not very company car tax efficient just like the P1
WRX with PPP - bit better on tax but would i miss the speed?
Honda Civic type R - bit better on tax than WRX but slower
Seat Cupra type R - about the same as the civic
Another minimal mileage P1 but car tax is silly

Don't really want an EVO and def not a used porky pig or a beemer

Why is the world so complicated and 27k IS a big hole in the wallet at the min!!

surely someone else must be suffering the same

Question

Difficult one, my STI7PPP will be 2 years old soon, I will change it in 2004.

Go mad and get a C Spec?
STI8PPP? or EVO8 FQ330?
Something diferant Mazda RX8 appeals?

Cleaver money would probably by a WRX+PPP

WRX+PPP is not far behind an STI8+PPP in the real world, The standard suspension is better suited to UK roads and the car should be easier to live with costs wise than the STI.

Anyone else!

Rob99,

Easy - give me the £27K, you take my nice practical V6 Laguna and I go get the STi PPP I wish I'd got 2 years ago! Sorted

Get a Skyline. I have a mate is due to sell his R33 GTR-V Spec with approx 500bhp soon (making way for Nur2 with even more power). Fastest and most fun car I've ever been in - does make an Impreza seem to have great MPG though.

A little off subjet, but.... Why do some people say 'get a cheap run-about for work'? You buy a car to drive, not worry about mileage, wear and tear etc. If you can't afford to drive it to work, don't buy it! You spend most of your week at work and most people will do the majority of their driving during their commute (except if the car is bought for track days / toy purposes). Seems silly to me to leave your 'pride and joy' (as most people describe it) at home for the local scally wags to nick bits off or remove completely from your drive / garage! Every one on here seems to love their Scoob, so why not be seen in it as much as possible? Buy it, drive, enjoy it!

Back on subject, I saw a Nisan 350Z the other day and they are a good looking car. Not sure about performance, but might be worth a look.

Hmmm, Cheers guys

The only reason P1 is up for renewal is the fact that she's done 75,000miles. So it hasn't been tucked away and i've used it for 2 trips to WRC Catalunya to.
Not convinced about the benefits of a Nissan..... Micra or Skyline cos I can see problems with both!!!
As for a V6 Laguna... ahem, thanks but ermm no thanks..

I notice no one has rated my two non Subaru suggestions and feel that I may be on a slightly one sided BBS..

Ah well off to test drive a Cupra type R at the weekend ... Wonder if it will put a smile on my face like the P1 STILL does...

The Cupra is a nice car - "the old dear" has one. Very quick and handles pretty well too, but it ain't a scoob. Even the R is still circa 7s to 60 so you will notice a big difference, plus all the power is through the front wheels, so loads of smoke, torque fight back and a set of new tyres after every launch .

Having said all that, since VW have been messing with SEAT, the build quality is very good and you get a lot of goodies for your money.

I have a P1 and a Toyota Yaris T-Sport soon to be a Clio Sport. My journey to work involes a 12 mile slow run in traffic every morning by the time I get to work the P1 is only just warmed up! I much prefer to sit in the Yaris and know the P1 is wrapped up nice and warm ready for me at the weekend when it is time to have some fun. I don't see the point in sitting in a £30K car all morning in a traffic jam, there again it is an expensive toy just for the weekends.

Si.

I have to admit I am in the same position... I have had the p1 only 2 years and am looking for something else as well, I've had 2 test drives in STI8 PPP (Dealer let me have it 2 hours while they servicesd my car) : )

Have to admit It wasn't what i expected and couldn't sell myself on it. I want something a bit different and waiting with baited breath for a limitied edition WRX STI8 PPP Solberg SE P2 ????? type car

I'll get flamed for saying this, I have an impreza, donated the legacy to the Mrs and a civic type R as a company car, the civic is just as quick as a STD wrx after about 60mph, so don't be fooled, having said that I hate the civic as it's a bitch to drive with too many gears and not enough grip in the wet so love my impreza, thats an unbiased opinion !!!

how about a Golf R32? or a Audi S3? Both pretty quick and with alittle mods, even better Or even a Focus RS/Alfa Gta?

The main problem is the choice! too much to choose from @ 27k.
Audi S4 is good, 4 drs, quick, practical.. depends what you really need..
