Talking

Just got my STI back from my local dealer minus the KNOCK.

A few months back I had some Prodrive springs fitted on my STI 7, then a week or so down the line I aquired a clonking noise coming from the N/S/R shock/hub, so I took my car to my local dealer for some investigation, After a call or two to Mike at Prodrive it was kind of narrow down to the top mount on the R/N/S strut.
It then had the so called FIX mod done ( a bigger washer on the top mount I think )which made No dfference at all,It was suggested that a new strut may be needed, so I booked the car back in for some more head scratching and the dealer to order the parts.

Sometime later the car was back at the dealers and it turned out it wasn't the suspension after all, it was a loose Driveshaft, some kind of play in it I was told.
So the driveshafts were swopped from side to side and adjusted and at last NO MORE KNOCK, car is now pleasing to drive in slow traffic instead of clonk clonk every time you touch the throttle.

So a big thanks to Mike a Prodrive for the input and Rob and Mark at Barretts.

Thanks Guys I just hope it lasts.

Arron.

Arron - You know it was entirely down to the way you drive it on certain "special stages" not that far from you.

Glad to see you've sorted it at last. Lok on the bright side, it's been cheaper and quicker than fixing a holed #4 piston.

Hmm, mine has a similar story, altho the clonking took 7 or 8 weeks to first show and now is clonking its knackers off, both sides.

My car is booked in for the 19th and Sparshatts are going to fit the 'shim kit', altho I'm not too confident on them fixing anything.

When your car clonks at low speeds can you physically feel the car shudder at the back ?

I will mention the driveshafts tho, thanks for the pointer.

Do try to keep up!

It was you that described it as a special stage. No need for such things now I'm over this side of the country, much nicer roads than I ever found in Kent.

Just curious, what did you (or more likely Pat?) do to get the torque sorted?

but not quicker
Scott - you know he never will be

I never suggested it, my first post only said it was quicker to fix than Scott's. Anyway, you can't honestly accuse me of only stirring now I've left Kent!

Back to the serious question - what did you/Pat do to get the torque "fixed"?
