Question

Can anyone tell me if a slight whining noise from the front axle (when in gear) which changes as the revs rise is normal?(92K WRX, 56,000miles) I think it is, as I've heard 4wd cars have noisier powertrains, also is it hard for the oil to be checked/changed in the powertrain (Awd system).

In general, do they make a bit of axle and engine noise from the front? (hard to explain in words)

Cheers in advance.

Trev.

Sounds like just general transmission noise.

Don't forget, there's a lot of driveshafts around the place, and the gearbox is next to your left leg - you should expect a *little* noise!

Rev related whining... the first thing I would check is your powersteering fluid. Its the most common cause.

The second most common cause is a wife/girlfriend
