Just a little survey i would like to do please.

It doesnt matter if you own a 22B or a 1.6GL or a legacy, any subaru really, this is about reliability, not power!!!

What i would like to know is:

The model of your car and its age, also how long you have had it and the mileage when you got it and what it is now. And of cause, what has gone wrong with it since you got it???

Just one other thing, if you could choose 1 thing to change about your car, what would you change, and again what would you not change??

MY96 UK turbo.

Owned for: 2 years
Bought at: 60k
Now at: 81k
Things gone wrong: dampers, clutch & lambda sensor replaced + usual service parts (and a few mods ).
Would change: The panel fits aren't the best I'd have them fixed
Wouldn't change: Don't know - it depends how the mod plans go.

MY00 Turbo

Owned since last Jan, had 54k on clock now has 80050.

Gone wrong:
MAF sensor (Warranty)
Clutch (labour on warranty)
a few oil seals (warranty)
alarm bracket broke (warranty)
ABS wiring problem, caused by previous accident (warranty)

Only thing other than a few styling gadgets and rear wiper etc I would change is better brakes!!

02 wrx ppp
new, now on 19000 miles

had a new clutch at 9000

prodrive lights look good but might as well shine a frigging torch through the windscreen.

needed another couple more coats of paint

love the handling
also like the way there is no frame around the door glass
only choice really for 2 kids and shopping space
would swop with a elise or vx turbo for a few weeks though, but not for good

Impreza turbo prodrive 99T
had it 3 years
14K to 46K
apart from routine servicing, brake pads keep on glazing up.
Would change quality of gear change. Look forward to a paddle shift.
Would not change sound of exhaust.

Ok here goes. This is my first Subaru.
Legacy 1.8 GL 1990. FDSH
Mileage when purchased 111000
Mileage now 116784
replaced middle and rear exhaust sections
Starts first turn of the key every time (don`t even get to hear the starter it starts that quick)
Love it`s stability
Love it`s handling
Love it even more now it`s got wider/lower tyres

Small niggle is the clutch judder when cold

What would I change about it? It`s way way too slow.It needs to be a turbo

Question

Hmmm, why would someone with 50odd posts, withholding their contact details and working in insurance want your car details???

Sorry, too paranoid to post on this'un

MY01 WRX wagon. had for 6 months / 10000 miles. Been pasted for most of the miles.
Only fault so far was loose connection in headlights, fixed under warranty.

Prior to that had x reg GX, several faulty O2 sensors.

MY98 Turbo 2000 Wagon

Owned for about 22 months now.

51k miles when bought, now 72k miles.

Only 1 failure in 2 years, the immobiliser unit went ga-ga (which gives a flashing CEL).
Cost £400 for the replacement unit complete with 2 new coded keys to work with it (gulp!)

The only thing I'd change is I'd like it to be a bit quieter inside.

1993 1.8GL wagon.
Bought in March at 85650 miles, so 8 months down the line, it's now done 94ish.

The starter motor went, so that was replaced under warranty, and a flat spot in the acceleration was solved by changing the rear cat.
Low range gear light on the dash doesn't work, but the gears do, so that doesn't really matter. Who uses them anyway?

Other than that, not much.

I'd like it to be quieter inside, as it's kinda boomy, with the (slightly enlarged) exhaust noise. The seats are **** as well, & don't have much support.
I find it a little pedestrian as well. Not slow, but it doesn't really pick up below 2100 rpm.

MY97 UK Turbo. Owned for 18 months now. Had about 56k then... now has just gone over 82k miles.

Brake caliper got stuck on one wheel - needed that fixing and hence new pads. Plus the rocker cover gasket was leaking, so that was changed on last service. Had to have one wheel repaired and another one refurbished (getting old).

Obviously had new tyres all round in that time...

Would like better brakes, but can't be ar$ed to pay about £1500 for decent ones... just drive slower

Wouldn't change much else. Love the performance, handling and noise!

Previous MY97 19-39000 2 Clutches Lots Of Tyres Lots Of Fuel Lots Of Noise, Steering Rack Blew an Oil Seal Whilst Negotiating a Roundabout At 60 mph. Replaced Brakes With Tarox 6 Pot Kit And 330 Discs. Standard Brakes Crap.

Now MY03 WRX 0-6500 To Much Road Noise, Not Enough Room For Kids In The Back, Crappy Interior,
Sounds Great And Sticks To The Road Like S**t To A Blanket.

MY02 WRX wagon

Had from new, now 26,000

Problems / faults: None at all

Change: wind noise @ 130+ (through vents?)

Never change: the "on rails feel" of driving the thing (grip, traction, handling)
