Running an MY00 at the moment and since 7000 miles or so the tickover has become increasingly more lumpy. The engine note does not wander that much but you can feel annoying vibrations and shakes through the base and back of the seats in the car, especially as the engine gets warmer when sat in traffic.

Taking it in to the dealer so they can plug in the monitor but as I haven't had a 'Check Engine' light they are at a loss already. Takes a bit of winding up aswell sometimes when starting - I'd say 10%-20% of all starts.

Anyone else suffering the same problem or is it a "...they all do that" number?

Many thanks,

Otis.

I had exactly the same thing whilst running in a MY00. I found that changing to SUL solved the problem

I've had problems starting a few times. On three occasions i've had to try twice to get her started, and its often slower to start than I would expect, but on my 1000 mile service the dealer muttered something about flat fours taking longer to fire than regular engines. B0ll0cks!

Otis,

I had a bit of a lumpy tickover with some hesitancy the engine was not very free revving. Sorted this by switching brands of fuel from Q8 to Shell. Still use 95 RON.

My car (MY00, 3800 miles) has a slighthly lumpy tickover too - although it's nowhere near bad enough to warrant a trip to a dealer. Like you describe, it's just an annoying occasional vibration through the back of the seats at idle. I can't say I'd noticed it getting better or worse as the car warms up; I'll pay more attention in future. I use SUL, usually Shell - maybe it would be worse on regular unleaded?

Andy.
