mine MY98 Sti.. full decat and a dodgy induction kit with a MAF playing up...

His latest M3 320+bhp?

Did it once before taking off from traffic lights and i damaged my clutch...

(on a private road)
This time took off from a rolling start and he couldn't keep up made a good distance of around 30-40 meters or so before he completely backed off and seemed like a teeeeenny spec in my rear view mirror!

There were a couple of threads on SN before and peeps said the M3 would be faster at high speeds.. we was doing 120mph and he was showing no signs of catching up... unless he damped his foot on the accelerator at that point...

i love me scooby

you would need some serious bhp in your car to lick an M3 like that!

Teeny spec in your rear view mirror? You sure he wasn't infront of you and you saw another car in the rear

hehe knew peeps would doubt that a scooby could take on n M3

I'm surprised myself but its true

MWP,
your probably right about it being the driver and not the car but i'd say that for when he backed off at high speed...
for about ten minutes before we actually let them loose he'd been bumper to bumper with me and all i could see in my RVM was his windscreen! i couldn't even tell what kind of motor it was untill he drifted towards the right to try and overtake and i saw what was behind me lol
So judging from his behaviour i'd say the driver gave it his best shot untill he bottled out at top end.

Akshay67
as for teeny spec.. errm thats a 'slight' exaguration on my part
he did back off from high speed and yes he did fade away pretty fast.. met up at the traffic lights again and he gave a nodd and look of akcnowledgement asto say yup that cars pretty quick.

As for needing serious BHP i don't think so (i have no idea what Bhp mine is) but i think a quick 300ish Bhp scooby would give an M3 a good challenge as ive realised on two occasions now...

Played with a couple of M's at the Nurburgring ...

M3 roadster ...beat him for straight line pace and didnt see him again
New M3, over took me on a twisty section (he obviously knew the track) and i could just about hang onto him on the straight.

I would say pretty evenly matched

At Brands last week I could not live with a new M3, better driver than me in a very quick car.

How do I upload a mpeg onto her from kazaa? Ive got a good race with some very fast cars, and you can see a standard evo 7 gsr woop a m3 6mt into the ground that would also mean that he wooped the farrari 360 modena f1 aswell the race was with the 2 evo's 1xgsr and 1xgta? 2 m3's 1x6mt and 1xsmg and 2 farrari's 1x6mt and 1xpaddle shift and 6 jap blokes who know how to drive cars to there full potential... very good footage.

Ill upload it tonight if someone can tell me how and where

The only explanation for taking 30-40 metres is that the M3 driver wasnt as committed as you........... Not saying you couldnt out run it , but that is just too much IMO

Out of interest how did the M3 compare to the STi8 PPP in the top gear test thingy? I should imagine that would give a pretty good idea of the actual difference, same driver (stig)etc etc ...as long as both runs were similar track conditions of course.

The only scoob that has a chance with the M3 is the Spec C, in tests in Evo mag, the Spec C has quicker to 140mph than the M3 CSL and id check out litimports website if you dont believe me

I think there are plenty of Sccobs that would stand a chance against an M3 in addition to the Spec C, just not a lot of standard ones

Whoever claims they beat an m3 is full of sh*t!

I had one up my rear on a motorway last week and had to pull over to let him past.We raced from a roundabout and i didnt have a sniff of leaving him.I was flat out in 4th when i had to pull over.He took me like i was stood still, absolute rocket!
