Hi everyone

Just about to sign on the line for an STI 8 and can see from the VIN number dealer gave me it is an 03 model year. Are there any diffferences with the 04 model year and indeed is the 04 model year on sale yet.

Thanks

Mark

Cool

Mark

Don't quote me on this but.

I think the 04 car will get a slightly different front bumper, but nothing major. No mechanical changes.

However there will be a limited edtion next year, available with the DCCD-A in two special colours. Expect this to be very expensive.

Question

Nathan - would that be the Spec C's front lip spoiler being put on the standard ones?

You may find DCCD-A is on the MY04STiUk or if not may be an option extra

The MY04 cars will have chassis numbers like
JF1 GDA KD34 G0375## (WRX)
or
JF1 GDB KH34 G0303## (STI)

There is no real differences in the MY04 car except that there is a special edition of the STI with the DCCD option. They have made 1,000 of these for European markets. Available from Feb 2004, Both the MY04 WRX & STI are available now.

I'm with ringpeas, what's a feekin DCCD? (I'm a bit thick). By the way I have just got an STi8 MY53 and although I appear to be the only one in the universe witha non-PPP STi I still think it is the mutts nuts but can't wait to get it run in.

Alex

Not really sure what the change is but just a subtle restlye I think. David Hendry mentioned it when I was enquiring about my possible new car.

Ringpeas

DCCD-A Is a Driver Controled Centre Differential with auto mode. Splits power between front and rear wheels up to 65% rear and 35% front.

Cheers Nathan.
I thought the standard AWD did that anyway?
Are there many benefits from adjusting this ratio?

Cheers guy's, what a goon I am, I owned an STi TypeR for 4 years before my STi8 and this had the facility on but the abbreviation for it didn't click(brain fade i guess). I was told it wasn't much use though unless you were on slippery surfaces or gravel and that if you wound the wheel to lock the diffs then you would end up with transmition windup so I always left it on the 65/35% drive biased to the rear (what fun though). Thanks again guy's for reactivating the brain cells.

Cool

The standard system is 50/50

AFAIK It's a bit like the Skyline in that it diverts power to the wheels that need the grip most in auto mode.

In manual you can use it to dial out understeer and it makes the car far more controllable for throttle on oversteer etc.

Nathan.

Lol @ Alex

Bob Rawle has a tasty STi front lip on his car but I can't find the picture of it at the moment.

I think it was something like this.
