Question

I've just fitted a boost gauge to MY93 WRX and was wondering if the readings are correct. At idle it reads -0.7bar and at full boost it reads +0.8 bar. Are these figures right? I spliced into the pipe which runs to the map sensor. Any help would be appreciated.

Mark,

It might not be a goot idea to T the gauge of the map sensor feed, if your gauge or it's hosing were to generate a leak the car could well start overboosting badly.

Moray, I did this after reading through other threads on the BBS. Where would you advise it done?

Hello Mark

Not sure about the boost, but I didn't think it was a good idea to splice into the MAP sensor pipe in case it delayed manifold pressure changes reaching the ECU.
There is normally a spare connection with a rubber cap near the coil which most people use (Bit further away though)

hope this helps

Andy

Mark,

the reason for using the "map" hose, is that you see exactly the same as the ecu. So long as you keep a very careful eye on your gauge, it should be fine, and your gauge will tell you if you have a problem anyway.

Just make sure you clip, or zip tie ALL of your hoses. Not all STi's have a spare take off from the inlet manifold.

Mark.
