Hesitancy at 2500 - 3000rpm..........
Hi All - new member, first question!
I've had a 5 door MY99 for 3 months now. I'm very happy with only one (OK, two - see below!) niggle - on a trailing throttle at around 2500 to 3000rpm I get a sort of "on/off" hesitancy when accelerating "mildly" (under hard acceleration there's no problem).
This is not bad & I think I'd have a hard time getting a Subaru dealership here in Switzerland to recognise it. It's similar to a slightly rough idle in feel, but it seems to pulse. Once clear of 3000rpm pickup is smooth, regardless of accelerator load. It's worse from cold, but is never really intrusive - at first I assumed it's a poor ECU mapping.
However, I just read an excellent thread regarding the BOV (steep learning curve for me!) - in it someone mentioned that the BOV bleeds to atmosphere, messing up the input air sensor readings leading to a rich then lean mixture when it tries to recover.
Could this be related? Where is the BOV mounted & is it easy (& safe!) to "play" with the spring loads?
Niggle two is my reverse gear - very hard to select from cold, I normally have to release the clutch a little (to nearly grind point) before being able to get it in. Releasing clutch in neutral and blipping throttle does not work. Anyone had similar?
Many thanks, great forum!
Richard
