No, nothing to do with my physical state after the weekend...

I see J has mentioned using lagging around the downpipe and turbo instead of having a heat shield. This seems strange - why would you want to try and keep heat *in* the turbo unit this way? Can anyone explain?

TIA

1. Gases travel faster when hotter.
2. reduce underbonnet temperature
3. avoid mechanics suing for burns.

Lee - I agree wit 1 & 2

Errrrr as for 3 ... can I sue my customer if that happen to me?? I like that ...... hahahaha.

Mike Nunan-Look into Scavengging Effect in the Combustion Chamber .... about hot exhaust air going out and drawing cold air in.

Exhaust Wrap is the cheap way to get extra performance ...... ask Firefox to help U wit it... he is good at changing turbocharger..exhaust manifold .. frontpipe .. etc.

Firefox - Is free rite ..... for Ur work???

Cheers.

Aha, ok I see the advantage now. I suppose it's too far down the line to have any real effect on cylinder temperature (i.e., detting issues aren't involved - unless someone wants to correct me here) but I would imagine that your turbo might fail a bit earlier if you do this. Any comment J?

Cool

Hey DYNT..

causing ****e again...

Remind me to send you those uprated tranny internals....for "free"..

lol

I dont mind helping people out..and doing work.. if they are willing help too.. I'm not a mechanic... and I dont own a garage (although some would say I do).. lol

Lagging is good.... its about 30-40 quid for 1"x50`..complete with some clamps.. moisten it first.. then start wrapping.... be warned it does bugger your skin (due to the glass content, and the metal straps and clips are killers)

The down pipe is easy...the turbo is difficult to lag.. I havent relagged mine yet...once you remove it..you cant really reuse it

I have problem with the wastegate... so I'll wait until its resolved.

J.
