Got quite an amusing one involving me and a friend.

We both are joint owners of a landy, which we off-road. Thing is the starter packed in and jammed on the flywheel, after spending most of the day trying to fix it (in p1ssing freezing rain) in a muddy field. we gave up and towed it (we drove it to the event as car ran into our trailer)....the elasticated tow rope broke on the first island. Resorting to our super heavy duty steel tow rope instead. So we're both pretty peeved off

During this 25mile journey, I had to use the brakes alot to keep the rope under tension, So towards the end the (drum) brakes were boiling, and I was using 2 feet on the pedal to stop!. I just about stopped at the last set of lights - I got out and told him to pull up at the next lay-by so they can cool down.

I failed to notice that in my attempt to stop I had driven over the tow rope (rated at 200tons)....My mate goes to pull away..nothing happend, he gives it a bit of juice...still nothing. By this time being already well peeved off, my mate thinks his brakes have stuck on....so goes **** this and floors it.

Now I should mention that the tow vehicle is a hybrid 88" landy with a modded 4.6 V8, permanent 4x4 pushing about 250bhp and 300lb/ft though an Autobox.

So he floors it. spins the front a back wheels, and shoots off....followed by an almighty BANG and I'm lurched instantly to 40mph!

Damage - Tore off the inner front bumper, the outer bumper resembled a boat hull and the tow hitch bolts were ripped through the bolt holes in the chassis of the towing landy!

edit: Thought I'd add...it was excellant stress relief straightening it all back out with the sledge hammer

If it counts, I slammed the door on my washing machine after it chewed up my best shirt !, the glass fell out and smashed on the floor, so it cost me a new shirt and £80 for a new door !!!!

I "lost" 3rd gear on my XR3 whilst out-dragging a tarted up 2.0 focus (Driver was a To55er).

Somehow ended up in 5th - with the selector still in 3rd! It popped out of 5th gear ever since

The early MTX-75 (not MT-75)gearboxes were a load of crap anyway (well that's the excuse - it had already been re-built once)

When I had my Stiletto (happy memories, many years ago) it wouldn't start one day and in anger I slammed the drivers door so hard the window shattered!

Mk11 Escort Sport with tuned Xflow, tweaked suspension etc - had a broken vanity mirror in the passenger sun visor - anyone like to guess how that happened?

Girlfriends (now wife) head in a moment of passion!!!! :-) Think about it. Oh, happy days, life was carefree then...

it's when she breaks the glovebox with her head that you know you've had a good time.

Not broken the car, but do remember turning a normal wall moutned light switch off a little too violently. Folded the whole switch unit neatly in half, and enlarged the cut-out in the plasterboard somewhat. Also once managed to throw a screwdriver through a wooden fence after a knuckle grazing moment under the car.

Not car related, but still

Was having to go working away for the week, and needed to set the video to record some stuff, so I check the tape that was in, nope couldnt record over that one, so went to eject it, and it wouldnt come out, so took the lid off the vid recorder (quite a high end Sony one too) tape was still jammed, so 'tried' to remove it with as little force as possible, but it wasnt having any of it

Started to use a little more force (I was running very late at this point, with a 3-4 hour drive to london ahead of me, and to try and get to the hotel before they closed) and eventually got the tape out

Reassembled the recorder, and put blank tape in, and it ejected itself, put it back in, it ejected itself yet again, did this several more times, and the furstration was beginning to set in

So off the lid came, realised the problem, in that a very small piece of plastic had broke, which i was going to fix, and then the red mist

I pounded the top of the open video case with my fist several times, and when the blood appeard, I started to 'tw@t' it with the screwdriver, unitl I was left with a metal box full of lots of little bits, then I picked the recorder up and threw it across the room, then finally stamping on it, before leaving to go to London !!

When I got back at the end of the week, I decided to go to the shops to buy a new one, and a sales guy asked if he could help, and I explained I wanted a new video, and would come and see him when I was ready to buy, he started to waffle on, so I told him my old video recorder was broke, and in his best sales pitch, explained to me how 'good' their repairs department was, and they could fix virtually all problems, I insisted that my video couldnt be fixed, and he insisted it could, so I told him what I did to it, and I have never seen a sales guy run away so quick

To do this day I cant rememember what it was I wanted to tape prolly eastenders or summit stupid like that

Another 'incident' of red mist

It was my 19th birthday, and was due to go out with my mates (30 miles away) and was going down there on my motorbike, anyway due to much traffic light launching, and wheelie popping, my chain had become rather stretched

And this particular night, too stretched to ride the bike, so (already frustrated at this point) removed the chain (without the correct tools) and decided I would remove a couple of links

All was going well, unitl I couldnt remove the last bit from the link I wanted to remove, so I had to use the hackswaw (which wasnt very good to begin with), it had now started to go dark, and time was running out fast, and the hacksaw wasnt working as quick as I wanted it too, I got so angry and started hacksawing harder, with the chain resting on my knee (no tools, no workshop, nothing) and I could finally see that i was getting somewhere and ended up continuing hacksawing until blood came through my jeans

Ouch, yes it hurt, but eventually I removed the links, got the chain back on, and finally got to my mates just in time for a memorable drinking session that lasted the whole weekend
