As the title says, which tyres are best performers in the wet and which are best in the dry??? Which is best compromise as i may be replacing mine soon?? (17" wheels 205/45/17)

Goodyear F1 GSD3's without a doubt

 

Have a look at Vredestein's.
My dealer really recommends them, and they've had excellent reviews.

 

Cheers guys, i have pirelli p zero assemetricos at the moment, are these the same as the (neros) that are used in the test in the first reply??? If not where can i get some and at what price as these seem to do the trick??

 

I am with Sipie. Ive been using the F1's all summer and just put my winter tyres on (which I thought had good wet weather grip). Its been raining here for the past 2 days and they feel like slicks compared to how the F1's felt. If I boot it hard in 1st and 2nd you can feel it scrabbling for traction in the frount which I never felt with the F1's. Dry weather grip was every bit as good as well.

I never felt confident with the Bridgestone RE40's in the rain but it is the total opposite with the F1's.

 

F1's are my 1st choice anytime-even excellent on my M3 with 321BHP on 2 wheel drive(well-most of the time )

 

Goodyear F1s in my opinion too, did track day with them and was amazed.

Also this months Jap performance, they use F1s on their project wrx at Snetterton, and they say:

 

Sounds like F1s are the ones to go for!! Anyone know the price for 205/45/17's??

I'll back the F1's too, best road tyre I have ever used,wet or dry. And you get a good mileage too.

there seems to be a problem with the F1 GSD3 splitting side walls!!!

also look at the TOYO proxes, excellent value for money and fantastic grip in the wet too, and the side walls don't split!

you say 205/45/17 if its a classic you are best off going for 215/40/17 cheaper and a better tyre for the car

 

I've been through a set of F1's and now i'm using toyo's.In my experiences i've found the toyo's alot more progressive on the limit espcially in the dry and in the wet i have more confidence with the toyo's.imho

 

I've just had a set of F1's put on my car. My god, what a transformation! I'd been running on dodgy Falken jobbies i'd got as part of the wheel/tyre package I bought about a year ago, and couldn't believe all these hot hatch nutters were leaving me sliding all over the place on roundabouts.....

Now with the F1's the Scooby handles and sticks the way it should. They have litterally transformed the car! Thanks to all who recommended them!
