Anyone got the specification of an MY02 Spec C (as opposed to the MY03 being drooled over by the press recently)? Performance times?

Can't seem to find any info on MY02 C's searching here or the web. As they seem to be finding their way over here with low miles for about £10k less than a new MY03 I'm tempted, assuming performance is suitably impressive and they don't have technical or insurance issues over other STis.

I see that the new Spec Cs don't produce the famous flat-four rumble owing to equal-length cams, are the MY02s the same? Would be a shame not to have that on my first Scooby!

Maybe he ment equal length "cans"

Well mines got a nice burble back now with the new backbox - so you can't say that about the new Spec C, as it ain't true in this case

Sorry, had a busy day and was on autotype. I've got an ITR, when you've got VTEC you tend to automatically think "cam" when talking about engines. Equal length manifold headers is indeed what I should have put.

It was the one(s) at Langtree (wickedkit) that really prompted my question. Anyone got an MY02 spec C or descriptions of 'em?

Been a while now, but IIRC the orignal type RA spec C (which was a B rev) got the new front goem (more caster), light panels, de-spec of everything that made it go slower (comforts like A/C, power windows, central locking, oh-5hyte handles, undercoat, boot liners etc). Oh, and the turbo was roller bearing-ed (is that English? ). I am pretty sure the RE070s also debuted on this model. This version had the unequal length headers that cause the rumble and no DCCD (onlyl the 16" motorsports stripper version got DCCD, and DCCD-A was not out yet).

C type spec C gets all the nice new engine bits (twin scroll, equal length headers), mustn't forget DCCD-A, the RE070s, and roller bearing turbo. BBS rims are optional IIRC. Misses out on the aero of the STi. Less low end rumble, but believe me, once on song there is absolutely no hiding which way the pistons are going A freer exhaust would probably release more of the sound-fx too

Hope I am 100% right, but stand to be corrected and HTH

Oh, and the original spec C is mighty quick The gap between the std STi of that era, and the spec C is greater than the current shape JDM rev C cars, IMHO.

Therefore even the older spec C is going to be a very quick car in the UK scene IMHO. A TEK3 for the fuel should actually release some more ponies... And I really do suggest a computer tune for the fuel, it is not just an excuse for a tweak-a-thon, honest

Hmm, all sounds extremely tempting then! Concern then really comes down to the usual import quandries: warranty and insurance. Having heard of a few people with popped engines on here (not really a problem with Honda - apparently no-one has ever managed to blow up a B18C6, even at 13.3krpm), what's the general opinion of these highly-tuned engines being likely to explode!?

Oh yeah, is C type MY02? (Excuse the lack of knowledge).

Unhappy

I know a man who blew a b18c, and another mainly me who blew a b16b, they are breakable, believe me, nothing to do with the 30+ trackdays it had done

they are mate I have just bought an S202. The Jap spec cars are fantastic, you will not regret buying one.
I had a UK car prior to this, and was a little aprehensive about buying an import.

Best thing I have ever done
