I've just noticed as I was leafing through this months EVO magazine that some of the cars they were using (the Enzo, and the Pagani Zonda etc) dont have front number plates. At first I thought this was security for the owners of the cars, but they have the rear ones. And there doesn't seem to be a place on the car for them.

Can these cars get away without them because they are so special, or is it still illegal, strictly speaking. Only mention cus I'd love to get rid of the front plate on my P1. Really spoils the spoiler.

Johnny.

people who buy these luxury sports cars will not care for the *poultry penalties of having no fixed front number plate if at the end of the day having them on will the car look crap...

Front number plates are not required...in the States.
However you are required to park with your ar.e out, so the coppers can read the plates as they cruise by.

Wouldn't be so bad if we were allowed to use those natty little plates the eyties have.

Thumbs up

3 years of no front numberplate. Never been stopped, have saved a hell of alot of money on camera van fines though.

Cpt. Smudger: front plates are required only in some US states, not all. I'm not aware of anyplace requiring head-in parking so rear plates will be visible to passing cops, but that might be the case somewhere.

Most states issue plates with light, reflective backgrounds - ever so convenient for proviging a bright reflector to laser guns...
