How the hell do you manage to average 32mpg on a run from liverpool to warwick and back in a MY03?

I just did, and wasn't hanging around.

The best my old RA did was 16

This sort of fuel consumption is not what i bought another scooby for

maybe its shutting down a couple of cylinders while cruising, like some yank cars do

My MY01 shut down No3 from time to time (too many times)- well, not quite shut down, holed it to ****

Ahh - if only. Our WRC uses 1 litre per mile on stage (4.5 miles to the gallon) and each gallon is £4.50. Me thinks 18mpg would be a dream !!!!

I did a 2000odd mile round trip recently and I didn't hang around. Overall fuel consumption on my scooby ecu'd MY96 car fully loaded with kit and 2 passengers averaged 27mpg. Not bad really considering I had some very long high speed runs on the Autoroute as well as some B road stuff in the UK and the inevitable M25, M6 traffic jams.

MY03 better MPG than the old turbo and PPP makes no difference, well as long as you don't boot it to much!

Must have worked it out wrong...

ha...maybe not it is possible to get 30 on the m-way @70 without the PPP.. give a little finger trouble with the calculator and ha-presto 33mpg.
Do it this way...
Preferably, measure how much you put in in litres; but in cost, simply divide by the price of the petrol, so e.g. £35 @75p (as an assumption) gives 46.66 litres.

Next, convert to gallons. The simple conversion is to divide by 4.544, but to work through, divide the litres by .568 to give pints (82) and divide by 8 to give gallons = 10.27 then do miles devided by gallons.
(568ml is a pint and there are 8 pints to the gallon. .568 x 8 = 4.544) ps bang this into XL it easier..
I did this with each tank for a 1000 miles and was was getting 29mpg and the mway@ 75 with the ppp it does 28...@ 75. I was going to see if it made a difference now its done 10k

There's always one...

Quite simple to calculate. Fill car with fuel. Drive the distance, in this case 270 miles. Fill up again with 38.32 litres, 8.44 gallons.

Divide 270 miles by 8.44 gallons.

I'll leave the rest to you.

Simon, my MY01 always gets 300 miles to the tank, with runs to Manchester most days.I find at 80-90 mph she returns the best figures.

Hi

From full tank to full tank I can get 30 mpg out of my 03 WRX PPP if I really try hard and keep to 80mph max on the motorway. Based on 4.54 litres per gallon and measured from tank full to tank full. The rest of the time I'm getting low 20's. Great isn't it!

There may be another reason for that nick.

anyway, you know how I drive

32 was the exception, and I was so surprised that I posted it on here. typical round town driving shows about 22ish.

just for the record, my worst consumption ever was at oulton in the RA, when I averaged 6

remeber that day nick

oh dear.. I feel like a sad b*stard now! I do fairly regular runs to birmigham from the lakes and back. I can get 31-32 mpg quite easily on that run. That's doing 75-80mph.
