I currently have a lovely UK MY2000 car. But Due to my cousin having an STIV I've fallen in love with it. So am flogging my car and am on the look out for an STIV. Has anyone got any tips on:-

1) Good importers, dealers, blokes you know from which to source one.

2)Any experience and advice in general about the car. I'm lucky here in having been in and behind (getting further away a bit too quickly from) my cousins car.

Enthusiast after your comments and advice. Ta v much peeps

Cal

Check the FOR SALE threads - they come up on there occasionally.
I have an STi5 and just love it. Don't know any dealers in your neck of the woods tho' - soz.

If I was to own an STi 5, I would make sure it was a fresh import so I could do the following:

New MAF sensor and Lambda - I personally think an undetected MAF failure is the cause of many of the blow ups on these.

Run it / make sure its been run on SUL and booster.

Install some stuff like knock link, AFR etc.

I am paranoid though

Yeah I live on the for sale pages. I spoke to the guys at Power Engineering and also another STI 5 owner who had a pal at prodrive and the consensus is an unmodified STI 5 should run fine on 97 or preferably 98 RON optimax without booster. But yes i may get a knocklink.

Cheers keep it coming chaps,

Cal

Cool

He pal, just spent last 6mnths searchin 4 mine, was lucky enough to find this site and hey presto! bought mine from a guy last who had it 4sale here.

Would avoid dealers/importers as these things r just a commodoty to them and a way of making money. Theres nothing like buying 1 from a fellow enthusiast as chances r it has been loved.

ps. never had so much fun in a car as in my scoob!!

enjoy.

Thumbs down

I wouldn't run it on just SUL personally - not worth the risk. Optimax at a bare minimum. I wouldn't buy one that hasn't been run on the right fuel either. Its amazing the amount of people buying / selling who are totally unaware of the issue...

Yeah 97 SUL in an emergency, BUT Optimax 99.9%, I have 2 optimax garages on the way home so it's not really a prob for me.
