Not wanting to hijack the thread, but others may find the info useful! Is it dangerous to overfill? I know the engine oil can cause problems if over-filled. Reason for asking is when I checked the oil recently, it looked fairly low, so I topped it up as Harvey suggets above. However, when I replaced the dip-stick to check the new level, I realised the little swine hadn't been pushed all the way in previously , and so now the oil's way higher than it should be.
TW@. Should it be drained to the correct level ASAP...?
Thanks.

Should use virtually no oil over a 10k mls period unless you have a leak.
75W/90 oil.Take out the dip stick and fill through that extended tube leading into the gear box. Fill to the top level shown on the dip stick.

Can possibly be a problem, as if overfilled, it will encourage the excess oil to worm its way out of the rear box prop seal, or via the gear selector seal. Either that, or it will seep from the from driveshaft seals. So you may notice a burning oil smell if it leaks from any of these as they all end up dripping over the exhaust system.
Sorry to sound so negative, but better warned.

Has often been recommended on here to request an extra 0.5 litres of oil above the manufacturers recommended level as 3rd gear is basically getting splashed rather than bathed in oil.
Certainly it was 3rd gear that went on mine

Hmmm, interesting... <strokes his chin>
If the worse case scenario is an occasional burnt oil smell, and the best case scenario is saving third gear, I think I'll leave it in!
Cheers for the replies, and again, sorry to hijack
