New Impreza
#1
Help : I am seriously looking into buying a new Impreza from the EU, full uk spec is only £16,500 all in. The waiting list is 5mths as opposed to 8mths here. Should I wait a bit for the year 2000 model as its will be completely revised. I will question my dealer at the w/e but heres hoping you guys may know more about the new model.
Many Thanks

Jason, being a newbie around here (this is my first posting here having been lurking for some time) can I ask who you are talking to in Europe?
The waiting time is very discouraging for me too (it's longer than that for an Elise!) and I want to shop-around to see if I can get a shorter delivery time. Buying from Europe is a reasonable option I think. Can you spill the beans on who you are talking to? Feel free to e-mail me privately if you'd prefer.
As for your question, I'm very tempted to go for the new model too, but I'm hearing it's not likely to hit these shores before 2001 at the very earliest. I don't think I can wait that long I'll probably get a MY99 and PX when the new model comes in having had a chance to examine it thoroughly. For very little depreciation I get to have a Scooby two years earlier
I also understand that DBM is officially no longer available on the Impreza (officially anyway), but that it will be on the new model .
Cheers, Ross.

As it has already been mentioned try ringing around dealers for cancelled orders. I had a DBM on order since November but after the dealer told me it would not be here until next year at the earlist I managed to get a silver car in 3 weeks and hopefully it should be arriving next week.

HI
Who said that DBM is no longer "officialy"
available, well speaking from this little corner of the world it is still very much
available...at least on LHD cars with euro
specs.
As for the MY2000 I do not think that there will
be any major changes, and if there was no
car manufacturer can keep such info under
cover for very long-remember that the current model year is almost over- .
Any way I just got my MY99 so a model change
is-hopefully- at least 2-3 years away
HAPPY MOTORING
