Does anybody know how to disable the seat belt warning alrm on the WRX.
Not that i don't wear it, however it still goes off when reversing!

Most manufacturers have a sequence to go thro to do this, however my local dealer says that you can't, which i find hard to believe.

 

It is a bit irritating when you're reversing and it starts then won't stop. Doesn't it only trigger at 2,500 revs?

 

disconnect the plug under the drivers seat

 

find the speaker and chop the wires

 

Jam a 50p down the seat belt buckle fastener slot

 

reverse from the passenger seat

 

As Rav says,unplug it-at least you can reinstall it later if you need to.

the problem with unplugging is that the airbags work of the sensor.
So if you unplug it, the car doesn't think anyone is sitting there and won't deploy yhe airbag if needed.

Was hoping i might get a sensible solution to the problem. Silly me!!

 

The "Songs for the deaf" album by Queens of the Stone Age appears to have a sample of the Scooby Seatbelt noise, followed by an engine starting. You could play that track repeatedly and it might drown it out.

I posted this origionally on SIDC, here it is again-
The offending small cream box is positioned just above the acellerator pedal, 1 nut releases it (dont drop it behind the trim!) - theres loads of wires to it. I unplugged the wiring, opened it up and removed the circuit board, theres a piezo buzzer on it soldered with 2 prongs you will need a soldering iron to desolder the piezo. Melt the solder on the 2 prongs one at a time whilst gently levering the piezo and it will come off. Then just put the circuit board back in - I put the piezo back in upside down with the prongs away from anything they could short circuit and put a small piece of padding in s it dosent rattle (this last bit just so I dont lose the piezo).
The removal of the piezo shouldnt have any effect on the operation of anything else, its a bit like a car alarm that flashes the lights - remove the connection to the lights and the alarm still works and sends the flashing light output even though they are not connected.
I dont proffess to be an expert, this is just how I did it there may be a better way to do this, as an electronics technician (amongst other things) I was comfortable with this solution. No airbags went off (!) and the red warning light still works.
