Ian,

Series McRae:

Special mica blue paintwork
6.5 x 16 inch eight spoke gold Speedline safari alloy wheels
Pirelli P Zero 205/50 ZR 16 low profile tyres
Recaro sports front seats with open headrests and Series McRae motifs
All seats (front and back) and door panelling retrimmed in Le Mans/Avus material
Factory fitted electric tilt and slide sunroof
Interior numbered Series McRae plaque
Side and rear Series McRae decals

When I picked up my car on 1/8/98 a McRae was in the showroom awaiting it's new owner who had just paid £23,000 for it as a one owner car with c20,000 on the clock. He was a pilot and the only change he wanted fitted was a quickshift.

Question

Dropped my car down at GDA in crowborough for the fitting of my new brakes.I got chatting to the owner who was busy pollishing a strange blue vehicle with low level spoiler and stickers on the rear .He informed me it was a Series McRae that he'd just sourced (from where i dont know)and was cleaning it up to sell.

Surely as we approach the MY01 era and our car prices plummet the only cars to hold their ground price wise would be the limited editions like the Series McRae with only 200 made i think.

So does anyone know why someone has just sold this car on to the dealer? Could it have come from Japan?

A mere inquiry to pass the time, as im stuck with my STI forever Amen.

.....Ian

Cool

Maybe the owner wanted to sell it so they could buy something else... possibly an more up to date, more highly speced car with plummeting residuals as standard? Just because the series McRae is limited edition doesn't prevent it from becoming dated and old-hat in time.

Series McRae was only sold in the UK nowhere else. They are one of the rarer ltd editions, someone may have ordered a P1 and had to sell it.

Question

Did the Series McRae have any engine upgades that differed from the standard turbo of that year? or is it all cosmetic as in ltd edition plaque, stickers, wheels and the colour??

What would your guess be to how much this would sell for as well?

Still bored and making conversation ..sorry...Ian

I heard that a Series Mcrae recently sold at Blackbush Auctions for £10250. I think it was a 96N with about between 70 and 80k miles. I saw it for sale at a garage in
Portsmouth prior to this but the salesman was a dick and didnt seem interested in negotiating. It was up for £12999 if I remember correctly. There were about five or six for sale in Top Marques several months ago. Varying prices some sensible some ridculous.
