Unhappy

Att of Scooby owners with Sigma alarms.

Stayed the weekend in Blackpool ...... the curse of the Sigma alarm struck again!!!

Spent most of the weekend dodging the vast array of LARGE communication aerials. Especially the small car park just off the sea front with a multi storey at the side that happens to be next to the police station !!!!! With more aerials that a big aerially thing!!. Took an hour in the rain of walking round the car pressing the fob and pointing at various angles etc. – at least I have found the optimum location and angle of fob pointing to get the scooby working again.

Even did it out side the hotel at Norebreck (crap hotel as well), got it working eventually, moved it 50 yards, job sorted didn’t have a problem after that.

Had the same problem in Rotherham at Tesco and surrounding area (see post from earlier this year) it’s only when you stop and have a good look around you realise the amount of communication aerials about. Scary….. very very scary……

Stayed the weekend in Blackpool
You have my deepest sympathies.

I vowed I'd never go back after the last time I went. The place is a dive.

It is a dive, unfortunately I asked my daughter where she would like to go for the weekend as it was her birthday (prev. years we have been to Alton towers, Euro Disney etc.) And she came up with Blackpool !!! Never, never again.

It's also full of weird 70s throwback characters who look like refugees from some old Reeves and Mortimer show.

If you are planning day trips, business trips, weekends breaks or longer holidays then why not discover Rotherham, the country’s best kept secret.

This classic South Yorkshire town can lay claim to some of Britain’s greatest inventions, including the screw-down water tap
and the Bailey Bridge – said by Churchill to have shortened the war by two years!

You’ll be guaranteed a warm and friendly Yorkshire welcome and best of all its great value for money!!!

keja33,
This was not meant to be "give Blackpool a kicking" thread.
I simply opened the thread to highlight the effects of various masts within the sea front area and the problems they can cause.

Unfortunalty most of our time over the weekend was spent along the sea front and yes it was dire (especially when it was p*ssing down as it was Friday night and 99% of the following day). But this can be said for many of the seaside resorts in this country (over exploited, under investment).

The hotel was tired to say the least, in fact I believe they are considering either a complete refurbishment or knocking it down and starting again. (From somebody who was manager for a brief period and asked to be moved!! due to the state of the hotel and it’s facilities).

So I think my own personal comments are factual and judging by the number of other people sharing their own personal views I am not off the mark.

By the way I must congratulate you on your historical knowledge of Rotherham.

TMO

I stayed at Norebreck (can't even spell it) castle aswell this last weekend. I couldn't agree with you more on what a run down place it was. On paper it looked fantastic, swimming pool, beauty parlour etc.. Saw the beer glasses on the floor collecting the rain coming in from the roof, service in the restaurant was intermittent at best and this I think was supposed to be ***

Off the thread I know, but just coincidence I happened to be there at the time.

Billy.

Yep I saw the beer glasses and small barrels collecting the rainwater just after the bar area on our way to the lovely balmoral (I think or was it Windsor) wing. Like you say it looks nice on paper or on the web site but reality is way way more interesting.
Not to mention the big puke stain in the carpet just along the corridor from our room.
Room smelled of p*ss, tracked it down to a pillar, which they changed, funny how they didn’t notice it in the first place.
Friday night somebody in the next room chucking up all night (talk about thin walls) which was quite funny due to the girlie whimpering in-between chucks. Saturday night sounded like the room above us was having a Hungarian clog dancing convention at 3am !!!
Ate at the Boston stake out on Saturday night, it helped having plenty of beer in the bar first!!
I have stayed in some interesting places over the years, wouldn’t say the norbreck was the worst but it’s the one most likely to be pulled down first !!

<Balance mode on>
But Blackpool does have the Big One and compared to say Alton Towers you can go on just as many, if not more, rides for less money, and you don't have to queue for 30-60 minutes for each one
<Balance mode off>
But the smell of fried food

I just got a new shielded alarm ECU fitted free under warranty at the dealers. Could be worth costing up even if you are out of warranty, maybe from an independent security place?

Hey tmo.....your slagging off Blackpool, coming from Rotheram!!!!!!

I dont live in Blackpool, just outside, I agree that the centre is a war zone at night, but 2 miles inland has some of the nicest countryside in the North.

My only experience of Rotheram was a couple of years ago I went there on a stag do, it seemed the locals are a very tense bunch, I just sensed a lot of anger....could have been the 12 pints of lager though!!!
